Seahawks looking to trade Frank Clark

...with a package deal that includes at least a first round pick. Clark is a proven young pass rusher though. Is he worth it? Would you trade for him?

14 sacks and 4 forced fumbles and only 25 years old? Yeah, that's going to cost us...but I would consider it.

He is probably better than anything we will get at 16 HOWEVER he will be light years more expensive than anyone we will get at 16. I think if we were in a different position as far as salary cap and overall team needs, I would be down for swapping that 16 for Frank Clark.

Agree, not sure how we could pay him what he wants.

He's gonna want a Khalil Mack type contract. He also had significant off-field concerns coming out of college. When a team wants to trade a talent like him who's only 25, ya gotta wonder why.

Paying him honestly wouldn't be an issue. Committing to him long-term might be. It took a few years for Hardy's full crazy to emerge too. Imagine if we had signed him long-term instead of tagging him. Ouch.

Bingo... what keeps a guy like Clark in line when he's not having to earn his big contract

The only caveat to that is that maybe with the astronomical contract they gave Wilson they know they cant keep him... still should give a good GM pause

For those who want our first pick to make a big impact in defense he would do.more than any rookie we could get at 16 and we could surely afford him. If you need an edge rusher then he is your guy. Sure he isn't cheap but any rookie we get will need 2 or 3 years to come into his own. Clark is plug and play

Would the staff even want him with his domestic violence history after going through it with Hardy? It seems like most of the league has forgot about it, but I know as soon as the Panthers get him they'd dig up whatever they can. I'd rather we just not bother with him, but maybe it's just me.

Agreed. Clark has some definite red flags and while we have cap room we don't exactly have loads of it (gotta keep some in reserve for the season).

I would say if the Panthers did have any interest in Clark, they should probably ask his former teammate Bruce Irvin for his opinion.

I figured it had more to do with them just giving Russel Wilson a 20m/year raise, having less than 10m in cap space going into the draft.  And Wilson's contract being more back ended.

Clark looks to want to be paid now, rather than go a year on franchise.  And I don't blame him.  He has yet to sign his franchise tag tender.  So combined with the low cap space and this...its why I expect the Seahawks are looking for a 1st rounder.

I am not saying his off-field concerns coming out of college aren't valid.  But I don't see it as why suddenly *now* the Seahawks would have an issue with it.

Yeah and they may also just simply not view him as worth what he is asking. I am not as concerned about his off field issues as I am the financial aspects of getting him. We have a lot of cap space opening up in the next 2-3 years but we will also have Cam and Luke to extend and some of our "core" players coming off rookie deals.
