Moton at RT?

Please this.

As for Williams, he signed a one-year deal to return to the Panthers and is the real wild card of the group. He could be used as Moton’s main backup at right tackle. However, the team will be paying him around $6 million this year and that’s a lot of money to leave on the bench. It’s possible he’ll slide inside to left guard to replace Greg Van Roten.

i want a Little/ Williams/Paradis/Turner/Moton line.

I do know this.  If Little can be serviceable at LT this is the best line Cam will play behind in a long time.

I think we really want to grind the run game to protect Cam.  And hopefully we can find someone to help share the load for CMC between Scarlett, Holyfield, and Hood.

I never like to downplay any one position, but I do think a good tackle can come in and be a REALLY good guard in most cases.  I'd try Williams at G.  Moton is just too good at RT to not have him on the field.  Regardless of what they do, depth on the o-line is a good thing.  For all the talk about offensive linemen needing to "gel", the Patriots have the best line in football year in and year out because they rotate offensive linemen to keep them fresh.

we'll figure it out.  We'll know in pre-season if Daryl's knee is ok.  Regardless, everyone one of us should be very, very grateful that we finally have options.  And I don't mean choosing the lesser of 2 evils.  We're got 2 good RTs (if healthy) to choose from.  We should have the best line Cam has ever had.  Marty will sleep fine.  Opposing coaches won't.

Of course, but it’s the offseason and not much going on now, I figured we could speculate and discuss our opinions on where we think he’s best fit. I doubt he will be LT with Little, I’m all for him being LG. That would be a solid OL starting out.

I agree completely and i'm all for protecting Cam...

Why would we put DWill at LG when he has only played RT during his tenure here (going so far as to say that he is exclusively a right tackle rather than an offensive tackle), especially after slating Moton to start at LG last season before DWill's injury?

I'm not following the logic aside from "His knee is an issue, put him in a phone booth."

Plus the narrative about having to have a TE attached to his hip couldn't be any stupider. Shula had us in 1-2/2-1 formations for over 40% of his playcalls. I mean, damn, just look at what the Panthers subreddit was saying about Michael Oher 2yrs ago:

And on the flip side...

the same reason hurney drafts corners to play safety, etc.

    • Absolutely. He just turned 27 a few days ago, so quite young. He and Moehrig would be quite the pairing.  I know we say this every year, but this FA period has A LOT of talent that will be switching uniforms. We were aggressive last year and have no doubt this time next week will have some studs on defense.
    • DJ Moore has always been a bit of an enigma. He came here young, flashed a ton of potential, but never truly grew into a real #1. He’s had a few good reasons, but yet to have a real monster season (outside of his first year with Chicago) We’re still waiting for him to blossom, but he will be 29 next season. I fear that it is too late for him at this point.
    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
