If you had to choose one......Shaq Thompson or James Bradberry?

Recommended Posts

Both are in the final year under contract. If you had to choose one to sign to a long term deal which one would you pick? On one hand Shaq has been above average, and has an excellent opportunity to shine beside Luke now that TD is gone. He brings a ton of speed to our LB group, and he seems to do well when he is not forced to play big buffalo packages all the time. Without him, our linebacker situation is rough. James B has also been above average even when ask to cover the teams best receiver week in and week out. Without him our CB situation is also rough. What would you do if you were Hurney 2.0?

Bradbury by a large margin. I wouldn't want to break the bank for either but Shaq has a ton to prove and Bradbury just needs to continue. I'd like to see how the 3-4 change affects Shaqs value.

It will be interesting to see what happens if  Shaq plays lights out now that TD is gone and he does not have to play in the Buffalo package. I really think that put him in a bad position most of last year. Both could cost a lot this offseason if they have a big year.

I agree Bradberry, but I feel like many are down on Shaq when he has been above average and could bring a huge contract after this year. He just turned 25 a few days ago, and when he has been allowed to play just linebacker  (not nickel) without TD he has played very well. This was from Rivera after Shaq had 13 tackles against the win against the Ravens this year:

Major James. But it would also depend on what each is looking for and able to get on the open market. If James were to put up big stats this year he could easily be looking for $15M/yr+ and someone may pay him that. Shaq is unlikely to put up huge stats in his role or be a big target for other teams in FA so I’d probably take him at like $8M/yr over Bradberry at 15. Hopefully we can extend him to below 10 before the season, and let it play out with Shaq.

    • For the money... CURTIS Samuel > DEEBO Samuel!
    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
