Seahawks claim Gordon off waivers

People act like Gordon is still a pro bowl talent. The reality is that dude has barely been relevant in years. He’s averaged like less than 50 yards a game and less than 3 TDs a season for like the last four years. And that’s not counting all the time he’s missed.

Dude really isn’t anything to worry over anymore. He had the ability to be an all time great but that ship sailed long ago. He’s just an average WR at this point. Why do people still act like he’s some got commodity?

Because he has still shown some athleticism, even this year, and he's only 28. It would've been a cheap low-risk rental at worst.

The question with him is obvious. But, if some of you want to believe he's washed, then go ahead. Last season, he put up 700+ yards in only 11 games.

LOL and this is exactly the delusion I’m talking about. Gordon hasn’t eclipsed 100 yards once this season. He had one single 100 yard game last season.

In 3 years he’s had two games with 100 yards. That is... actually bang average.

He’s been irrelevant since 2013 and people still act as though he’s Randy Moss.

I think its dumb to pass because there’s nothing to lose. Bring him in for cheap, cut him if he sucks. Simple. Patriots did exactly that and they’re no worse off for trying

They're not necessarily better off either. Or at least they didn't think so (they wouldn't have cut him if they did).

Mentioned this yesterday, but look up the stories of Stanley Wilson and Barret Robbins.

These were two guys who were a tad flaky. Enough so that each of them one day just didn't show up for a game. Their respective teams (the Bengals and the Raiders) lost those games. And unfortunately, those games happened to be Super Bowls.

You can also look back at a case like Hollywood Henderson. Enormous talent, but shaky character. He wound up playing in a Super Bowl that he doesn't even remember because he was too heavily coked up. And yeah his team lost that game too.

That's three instances where teams putting themselves in the position of having to depend on undependable players wound up costing themselves as Super Bowl. and in two of those three cases, right up till that moment the players were behaving themselves.

That's the kind of risk you take. You can be willing to accept it, but if you're not there are examples that Illustrate why.

This week, twenty-seven teams who are well aware of Gordon's immense talent thought he was too big a risk (twenty-eight if you count the Patriots). It wasn't just us.

That's the kind of thing that would give me pause.

Yeah the Patriots are know as the model franchise and routinely take low risk high reward fliers on guys like Gordon. We have all seen it with Moss,Gordon,Brown to name a few. You say it's a risk he could get popped for coke again and I say for 750k or so who cares? Your getting a bargain on talent at that price and If he catches 70 passes for 800 yards your a big winner.

If he does get in trouble for off the field issues you cut him and dont look any worse off just like the Pat's did with brown. Seem our fan base is to worried out our squeaky clean image that our players are good guys than trying to win. There is a reason the Pat's stay at the top and it's the model they follow. They want to win at any cost.

Here's the thing, though...

The Patriots have proven very willing to take a risk.

For that reason, when they do dump somebody, that's a red flag.

    • 6 pages of tuka and Seltzer arguing is actually 97 pages long
    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
