Saints win NFC South title

When is the earliest that we would eligible to be mathematically eliminated. Week 14?

Yes with a but, we can't be eliminated this week.

CAR (5-6) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, (E)]:
CAR cannot clinch a playoff berth or be eliminated from the playoffs this week.

CAR is knocked out of NFC South title contention with:

CAR loss/tie + NO tie OR

NO win

If we lose this week and GB wins and Minnesota wins we will be 4 games back with 4 to play behind three teams (SEA, GB, MIN).  Since we can't be eliminated that means we can win a tiebreaker against Seattle or Minnesota. Green bay has the head over us. So if Seattle loses out and we win out starting in week 14 we would take their spot based on head to head. If we win out and Minnesota loses out it would go to division record where we would both be 3-3.  Then it would be common games which I am too lazy to figure out.

We could also end up with a three way tie.

If we win this week presumably we could be in a can't be eliminated situation in week 14. Not 100% sure.

Anyway, on of our "easiest" paths to the playoffs was to take the division. That disappeared yesterday and was about .3% of our total ~1% chance. We are toast.

Impossible, huddlers informed me 3 years ago the Saints were going into cap he’ll and we’re going to fade out to the bottom of the NFC south and I got poo for calling them idiots.

The Saints are playing on borrowed time, they give away contracts and draft picks like candy.  The crash will happen, it’s just delaying the inevitable.

Y’all may have been technically the first, but we’re the first to win 3 in a row with a winning record in all 3 years.

Congrats on clinching. Everybody keeps expecting you guys to drop in the division and it doesnt happen.

God I just hope Payton doesnt let Rivera win again at the end and make it more likely this organization keeps him. Would be a brutal move :fear:

Much appreciated, friend. And I mean it’ll more than likely happen one of these days, just hope we can get another 2-3 years before it does. When Brees retires is when we’re going to have to eat a pretty sizable chunk of change so that year we may take at least a slight dip, but hopefully we keep hitting on a few picks and free agents that we’ll have most of our pieces in place to pick things back up the next year.

And depending on how our race for a 1st round bye goes, he may or may not decide to sit the starters again in Week 17.

Last year it felt great going to that Week 17 game at the Superdome to be able to watch a game without any stress for the first time in a long time, but I’d rather it be on the road. That way it won’t seem like a 3rd home preseason game, LOL.
