Cam Newton plans to have foot surgery

Good! He has almost a full year to recover. We have a year to fix up our line. Cam didn't strain his recovering shoulder. And Cam has saved himself an entire season of abuse over the last two seasons. I think the last two years may have prolonged his career.

I hope he bounces back stronger than ever next season!

Pretty sure anytime there is a ''chance'' an injury can heal without surgery you take that ''chance''. This is another persons body being opened up not your own. You listen to any current or former player they all reference waiting over the knife if there is an option.

It's media outlets, and casuals that feed that narrative of have the surgery immediately even if medical PROFESSIONALS are advising this has the opportunity to heal on it's own, and that surgery is the last resort to repair the injury.

Likely didn't happen a month ago because we still had a long-shot at the playoffs and potentially a hope of his return.

    • Yeah the Wilson ACL thing is and was a wild situation that is ultimately not an issue but we apparently didn't have the right intel to clear him.
    • Don't disagree but if we were determined to go with a RB, Corum was close in pre draft ranking to Brooks.
    • Start who?  Brycen?  C'mon now Renfrow can't start on the outside, so unless you're starting Brycen or a week 1 inactive in Horn Jr, until Coker comes back, XL has to be the starter by default. Again, this is why you don't trade Thielen, because yes, we had depth before, but depth is only good when you don't lose multiple of your top options, and Thielen and Coker were going to be our #2 and #3 this year, then we lost them 48 hours apart. And when Coker is back, he's the immediate starter on the outside, which I think can even be good for XL, as he could do well from the slot if you scheme some easy passes across the middle to him to let him then use his speed and strength to make plays with the ball in his hands.
