An interview I just watched, said thule would like to get Phil Snow on the staff in some capacity,  he didn't say ANYTHING about Snow being the DC here.

Everyone is going off nfl.com, joe person and athletic among a few other sources saying that Snow and Siravo are coming to Carolina in same capacity.

Once again, it was a Rhule interview.  I'll take what he says over anybody else at this point.

They are useless for anything other than perpetuating simpleminded drama.

It very well may be true. However, this sounds like a case where everyone is just referencing  the same thing and making assumptions from what was assumed to have happened last year.

I fear it may be true.

I hope its not. Having him on the staff would be fine.

He may turn out to be a genius but it's a bummer to think about it at the moment.

He's 64 year old and no one ever thought to promote him to any position of authority before Rhule scraped him off the trash bin at Temple

Shows how he was viewed by his superiors in the dozens of other small time jobs he's held.  If he were a defensive mastermind, someone would have noticed it.

Starting to wonder if David Tepper had a stroke.

Lmao I don’t need to convince some random person online what I know is true. You don’t have to believe me, I don’t give a poo. I’d provide his name, but I don’t need to doxx myself for pie.

A guy who has coached each defensive position group except DL directly. A guy who got the DC job for multi-year stints after proving his worth as a position coach first on a couple different D1 schools. And THIS is the guy you're saying was scraped off the trash heap? Never given a role of prominence? He's been an NFL assistant and DC more than once. Wtf are you talking about?

He was an NFL assistant coach once, with the Lions (who by the way fielded the worst NFL team ever during that timeframe).

His resume isn’t pretty. Was hoping Rhule would bring him on in an assistant role and someone with more NFL clout in as DC.

I know right?  I mean how the hell can it be any worse.  He would have to show up drunk daily and sleep through every meeting to even compete with the utter embarrassment we witnessed last season.

Hmm.. Well we can at least still hope he doesn't sleep through the meetings.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
