Trying to remain patient, but I’m too damned excited!

I’m excited in the same way to when the Bobcats were brought into existence.

Yay, we got the NBA back, excited to see what we can build but it’s not the Hornets...and their name is the Bobcats. Image change! We’re likely going to be awful so hopefully some of the young guys can tear it up and we can become something in short order but ehhh yeah about that lol.

Given the nature of parody in the NFL however, we can be a bit optimistic but dear god do not expect much for 2020.

No but the odds are not good.

If Cam is healthy, there’s no reason we can’t have a good season while also building for sustained success. Invest heavily on the lines in the draft, resign Bradberry, maybe sign a mid range FA LB and with good coaching for the first time in forever we can have a good season. We have a good group of young talent at skill positions, we just gotta get those lines right.

If, lots of ifs have to align.  Only few Homer fans think there is talent on this team.  The truth is this team is talent poor and the current brain trust is not capable of finding anyone beyond round one to build a competent roster.  You keep think this team is trying to piece together a roster to compete next season.  They are building for the Long haul salvaging anyone they can from the current team and building the team as the fo from the draft.  I would not get my hopes up for FA signings, especially big name FA's.  This is the dawn of a new era in Carolina and the theme is out with the old and in with the new.

There’s really only one “if”, Cam’s health. The others are easy and controllable.

The only way this team remains competitive is if Rhule decides to keep Cam which I'm pretty sure wont happen. I think itd be in Rhules best interest to try and win from day 1 rather than 3 years from now. Success isn't guaranteed. And there's no guarantee the wins start coming in year 2 or 3. We have pieces on both sides to build around a complete strip down of the entire roster isn't needed, but I feel like that is what's going to happen.

I agree.

I think we're probably going to go the complete rebuild path. That's what comments from Tepper lead me to believe and that's what Rhule did at Temple and Baylor.

But, like you said, it's a risky proposition and one Rhule may not survive even if he's building a good foundation. No no matter how patient an owner is, the heat really starts getting cranked up after two or three years of missing the playoffs. Especially since Rhule is inheriting a team already in a three year drought. Two or three more seasons of no playoffs would out the Panthers at five to six years straight of no playoffs.

You guys act like this team were winners before Tepper took over.   This team is all kinds of dysfunctional right now and a "healthy" Cam and a handful of good players aren't doing anything but delaying the inevitable.  You guys are just not listening to the sound of the distant drums.

The team rebuilds every off season. Ejecting core players in hopes of losing is exactly what it is... losing/accepting a culture of losing. Nobody is trying to lose except for armchair GMs.

They will find ways to win. It's what they get paid for and evaluated on every season.

Panthers lose week one and the Huddle melts down... yes people, it’s coming

It depends on how they lose. Same with the whole season. I don't expect them to be a winning team coming out of the gate, but I want to see real growth and effort and creativity.

Yea I dont see us having a top 10 pick again for a long time but I think Cams coming back. Even without Cam the only reason we got the pick was because of injury to a position that was old and lacked depth while being extremely important. With the guys signed next year and going back to the 43 base (the personnel is easier to come by imo and is easier to scrape by with) aside from a catastrophic failure from the coaches we wont be picking top 10 next year.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
