This might be a story (MLS and the City of Charlotte)

A simple and legal gesture of goodwill to the council members. This gesture had nothing to do with their votes....  that happened behind closed doors.  Neither Tepper or the council is sloppy enough to leave a trail like this.  This is tinderbox material.

Writing a thank you note is a gesture of goodwill.

Donating to the campaign funds of public officials that you have business before is legalized bribery. I don’t really give a fig what the law says. It’s legal because the ones accepting the bribes are the ones writing the laws. Go on, make the case that Tepper and company make these kind of donations to public officials they have no business before as similar gestures of goodwill. We both know they don’t.

im not criticizing Tepper, I’m criticizing the system, and I don’t think we as citizens ought to be complicit by going along with such obvious BS. This system of bribery directly impacts decisions made with our tax dollars that impact negatively the quality of government we get. Let’s not nod and smile and endorse it as proper.

Honestly, it's not even a "usable" monetary donation.  It's just money to help someone possibly get re-elected.  The politician can't even use the money to take his wife/husband/significant other out to dinner.  All they can do is print up some flyers or bumper stickers.

No laws were broken.  It must be a really slow day for news or something if the local outlets are pursuing the story.

Cmon @Mr. Scot I know it’s a slow week for news but don’t get pulled into the Tinderbox bro

Don't worry :)

Like I said, I didn't find it interesting but it appears some of the local press is trying to make a story out of it. I know we've got some on here who heavily debate stadium deals and such so I posted it for the people that are into that stuff.
