Walter Football names three possible GM Candidates

If that were to happen, sources say there are three young executives who are on the Panthers' radar as potential general managers: 49ers vice president of player personnel Adam Peters, Titans vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden and Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Dan Morgan.

Morgan was a Pro Bowl linebacker for the Panthers and was a valuable member of the Seahawks' scouting staff under general manager Jon Schneider before Buffalo hired him a few years ago. Cowden was the assistant director of college scouting for the Panthers before taking the position with Tennessee in 2016. He had worked for Carolina since 2000, climbing the ladder within the organization. Peters has been with the 49ers for the past three seasons after working eight years with the Broncos, topping out as the director of college scouting with Denver.

League sources say Tepper does not want to lose Hurney, who has a superb track record in the draft and a proven eye for finding talent. However, Tepper and Rhule want to lead Carolina into a new direction as well, so many believe the Panthers will want some young blood under Hurney to help lead the front office going forward. It will be very interesting to see how the front office positions are filled after the 2020 NFL Draft.

Color me skeptical as Hurney played a big roll in choosing our HC.  Not something an owner is likely to do if he has serious doubts about his GM.

I do believe they'll hire another GM after the draft and Hurney will be moved to another role such as "President" or something.

Hurney isn't going anywhere, just like Cam. We will draft, get 1 or 2 decent FAs, and compete with what we have under a new scheme and coaching staff.

This is looking more and more like it will be the final outcome when the dust settles.

Everyone just needs to get used to the idea of Hurney as Gm of the Panthers.  Nothing is changing this year

If Tepper is actually dumb enough to give him an extension, I'll probably be ready to paraphrase Dante and say abandon all hope of building a winner.

Seriously, I can never believe again that we will be good as long as Hurney is here. Rhule would have to fart gold dust and wishes to compensate for his negatives.
