New Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater's 6.1 average depth of throw was easily lowest in the NFL last season

The Saints have a much better Oline. Plus Brees is a HOF and T.B. is the stop gap guy behind him. Don't know what you expect with this signing. Maybe another 5 win season at best.....S.O.S with a different guy throwing the ball.

I expect a QB that had some pretty convincing success on a New Orleans team with nearly identically the same time to throw that Kyle Allen has to perform pretty well in a system based on New Orlean's system.

Bridgewater played 13 games as a rookie and started the last 12 racking up a 6-6 record.  He was named NFL Rookie of the Year for the 2014 season.

His 2nd year he started all 16 games and the Vikings went 11-5 in the regular season.  The Vikings lost 10-9 in the Wild Card round (on a missed chip shot w/ no time by his kicker) and Bridgewater was named to the Pro Bowl for 2015.

Prior to the 2016 season he was injured in practice and he missed the entire season and a lot of 2017 as well, next played in week 15 of the 2017 season.

He's proven to be a very capable backup to Brees while biding his time for the right opportunity to be the starter.

As a starter he's gone 22-12 in the regular season which included a lot of games as a rookie.

He's still only 27 and the mileage count on his body is very low.

There's a ton of reason for optimism here and the rhetoric suggesting Bridgewater is some sort of washed-up career backup is total nonsense.

Its sad because while I haven't liked Teddy, he has been a steady leader since his horrific injury.  Like I said, it kind of reminds me of how Brees fought back after his injury and no one wanted him following San Diego.  With him knowing Brady's system, this could end up good.  Again, like the trade of Turner, I think this might be moves to get players that fit the system more than anything and Cam is a guy who needs the system tailored to him and brady is gonna move us in a direction they don't think cam will be successful in.

I mean, we've never done anything after signing a former New Orleans back up QB.

Except go to a Super Bowl?

People really should understand that a lot of these stats reflect more on the Saints system than they do Bridgewater.

Bash or being honest? He’s a better version of Kyle Allen. He is teddy “checkdown” bridgewater and we signed him for 60 million dollars. This franchise is inept.

if you cut or trade Cam, do the tanking right. This is fuging stupid.

Yep, that's what we did.

And I agree. Teddy has some definite upsides and he's a guy that has not had a chance to reach his full potential, but has a history of putting in the work, whether it be rehabbing from a horrific injury to taking to coaching. He and we could be meeting at the right intersection on the charts.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
