Chip Kelly 2.0

Recommended Posts

Remember when the guru Chip Kelly took over in Philly.  He gutted that team and did nothing with his changes.

I see the same thing happening here but we did it far more brutally.  Forced Luke into retirement, *Mutually parted ways with Olsen*, lied to Cam the entire offseason about waiting until he was healthy.  Maybe we should Trade CMC then Rhule can bring in his running back from Baylor.

Tepper wants to win but we'll be luck if we can beat a good college team.

This moves are painful to watch.  I hope Cam takes whoever he signs with to the Super Bowl.

I don't think we forced Luke to retire. I think that was his decision. He's 27. If he wanted to keep playing and didn't want to be here he could've forced his way out. Luke retired due to medical concerns.

But yeah, so far this is all looking very Chip Kelly-ish in the early going. We'll have to see how it all plays out.

Keep in mind that Chip Kelly won some games in Philly and then just wanted to retool to his own team. We never got to see the finished product.  Phily messed up by not keeping some control IF they wanted to keep their team,.. and Chip messed up by not making it clear he was going to blow it up and wanted time to do that.

Tepper wanted this team blown up,.. that’s what is different here is the owner wanted this. He’s in a profession where he’s used to pissing people off and doesn’t care for now what we all think.

you could say Sean McVae is Chip 2.0 or Arizona’s coach,..

the issue is for us is we all want the fast forward button to see what the finished product will look like and unfortunately that looks 3 seasons away at best.

Chip Kelly took over in 2009 at Oregon who was coming off seasons of 10-2, 7-6, 9-4 and 10-3 the previous four.  The cupboards at Oregon were far from bare.  Everywhere Rhule has been hired was mired in mediocrity at the very best, and he significantly improved all of them.  I'm not saying he won't end up like Kelly, but I think his track record indicates that he may have better success in a rebuild than Kelly.

You're out.

Classic "couldn't beat a good college team" hot take. :eyeroll:

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
