Rebuild for a LB? 2021 Mock

I'm usually not a huge fan of mocks, but could you Imagine the outrage if we go through a rebuild for a LB.

Here is PFF's mock for next year, and yes it is too early and nobody expects them to be right, but if anything it will give people some names to watch during the next college football season.

5. CAROLINA PANTHERS — LB MICAH PARSONS, PENN STATE

Parsons is already elite when it comes to making actual linebacker reads, which is an ability that many scouts worried about when it came to Isaiah Simmons’ evaluation. Parsons led the nation with a 94.8 run-defense grade as a sophomore. To play like a grown man at his age is special.

1. Way too early (as you said)

2. PFF is way to metrics-based and IMO should be used as support but not as a bible (as you stated as well)

3. Micah Parsons is a BEAST. If everyone here loved Simmons for what he did last year, Parsons would be a no brainer. He would instantly bring a fearsome athletic Kuechly-esque MLB to our squad.

Would not hate the selection.... same goes for Surtain II. I think 5 is our ceiling for this draft. Rhule has handled the offseason well enough to put us in position to win each week. We won't be great, but I find it hard to believe finishing inside the top 5.

Yep, probably the most explosive linebacker you’ll see.

I lost track of how many times I’d see him in the back field before the running back even got the ball. Dude is an absolute STUD against the run and as a pass rusher

As for the mock, I’m taking Trey Lance if things were to shake out like that

    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
    • He had the award until like the last 8 games. He sucked ass and flagg had 3 40 point games
