Maybe there is a message behind it, just not the one everyone is jumping to. Maybe it has nothing to do with disrespecting Cam Newton at all. 
 

Maybe the message is “we’ve moved on” and some are still dwelling in the past. I mean imagine or roster is anything like this board saying “this is so disrespectful to Cam. I mean it’s not his fault we cut him for a lesser QB” etc.

Thats a weak ass mentality to go into the season with and regardless of what you think about Cam or Teddy, Teddy is the starting QB here now and deserves the respect and support in the locker room.

I don't blame the new regime for not realizing. They never even saw Cam in a uniform, especially a camp one.

I don't think rhule has anything against cam. I just think it was a lack of awareness about what cam has meant to the organization before he got here. Someone should have said "people may get the wrong impression of this"

I completely agree with you. I don’t think there was any thought put into it one way or another. But my point is, if there was a reason for it, why does everyone assume it’s malicious? Why would anyone assume Rhule is trying to take jabs at Cam? If there was an underlying message, I would imagine it’s with the intention of giving Teddy support. 
 

But like you said, the reality is just that they didn’t think it through. But plenty of posters are calling it appalling disrespect. I don’t see it.

Self awareness?  Is Cam some God whose practice jerseys should be forever retired?  I guarantee you the team isn’t even thinking about Cam Newton right now.  He is gone.  He is a Patriot.  The front office made their statement about how much they think of him and moved on.  We have a ton of red 1 jerseys on hand and decided to reuse them in a time when teams across the league are cutting costs.  It is what it is.  Cam WAS a player for the Panthers.  He no longer is.  Everything we do is not about Cam Newton.
