Does this team have less talented players than the 2010 team?

There's still plenty of time to regress, but we've already scored more points in a game so far this season than we had scored in 2010. The 2010 offense was abysmal.  Less than 2300 total passing yards.  No 1000 yard backs (admittedly that was Double Trouble time, but even together they were <1200 yards).

The defense was not great, but it also wasn't terrible.

But in terms of talent?

I would say that roster was, at the age of the players in 2010, more talented at almost all positions on defense, and certainly on the OL and kicker, than what we have now.  But our QB/WR/RB groups are all better this year IMO.

That’s because they had Will Grier, I mean Weinke, I mean Clausen. Peyton Manning out for the year, we want Luck, start Curtis Painter and enjoy pick 1. Same thing. Will Grier would have been the same thing. We scored 6 points in 2 games (rest was Allen in reserve) last year with DJ playing great, CMC going for 1000-1000. Heck Samuel had 750 total yards and 7 TDs but put Grier in and we couldn’t muster more than two FGs in 6 quarters with him.

DJ actually got hurt five snaps into Grier’s first game, and we did go for it and fail on fourth down inside the 10 twice. Not that it makes much of a difference, but you take away 2 punt return scores and add a couple chip shots, and that Indy game is 24-12. Not much worse than Allen, in that case.

2001 even had better talent. Smith, Morgan, Buckner, Rucker, Moose, etc. They just had a knack for losing that year.

Yeah but Smith and Morgan were rookies. Morgan got hurt and did not finish the season and Smith only played special teams. Rucker, Moose and Buckner were talented. But let’s face it, the 2001 team could not win mostly due to the QB situation.
Seefart cut B-Line for Jeff Lewis who was cut during preseason. So Weinke was the starter as a rookie. That team lost 15-games in a row.
Similar to the 2010 team in that we had a rookie QB as the starter. Not only was Clausen a rookie, but was not even a talented rookie. He was awful and never was a starter similar to Weinke.

I would hate to think we have to suffer through another 2001 or 2010 season this year.

I would recommend you prepare for that exact possibility.  All the dominos are in place.

Lol. Where does he think we’ll be going on our 10 game losing streak? Since the second half of 2018, we are 6-20. Aren’t we already suffering? That’s basically like finishing 3-13 or 4-12. Why is 2-14 that much worse?

Every decade or so we have to go through this. It’s about that time
