Excited to see if he has anything to offer and help out on the secondary. Would be amazing to have actually got some decent talent in FA, so far the only huge letdown has been Whitehead, and that could be attributed to being spoiled with the best MLB in the game for so long.

Take Tre out and play Donte at FS with Chinn at SS. Jalen Mills another LSU product was terrible at corner. He has made a living by moving to safety.

Jackson needs to fundamentally tackle better before I'd trust him at safety.

Anyone who had ever seen Whitehead play before or paid attention to what Raiders fans said about him isn't letdown by his play. It's as expected. He's just not very good.

Given his main issues a move to safety might highlight them, not hide them, but who knows.

    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
    • Alright man! We're here for it! Just glad you're keeping the doors open!
    • I think we've seen improvement in Bryce's performance. It still isn't up to world beater status, but in Canales defense, he can say that the limitations of the player were hit. I think he survives that even if Bryce doesn't. Still, I think it's a 50/50 shot for Bryce to make it. QB is one of the toughest jobs to do in the sports world, if not the most, so the failure rate is really high, no matter the pedigree. Heck, Archie Manning gets a lot of credit as a great QB but anyone who saw his career in motion knows he wasn't really that good and he was surrounded by bottom of the bowl players. He did get it figured out with his sons, though. That grandson... maybe.
