Mike Davis and Curtis Samuel ran very well last night. I don't think we are going to see the offensive struggles disappear when CMC returns. If Okung can't get healthy and the interior of that line doesn't get it together, adding CMC isn't going to put us over the top. Our red zone efficiency should go up quite a bit, but I am not sure our overall results will improve.

CMC is a much, much better blocker than Davis, and there have been a few plays that might have been the difference... or at least, given us more of a chance.

I don't think Joe Brady has ever had to coach an OL as bad as ours currently is. We were able to disguise some of the deficiencies in the interior of the OL when Okung and Moton were shutting down the ends, but once Okung went out with injury, we have 4 of 5 offensive linemen getting beat like rented mules.

Also have to factor in that once they put Trent Scott in it left tackle, there were no reserves left.

We were already down and then when Dennis Daley left the game, that was it.

Hmm.  Our OL as a unit is very bad. Moton is the only really good player playing right now.  WR and RB are both strengths. TE is awful.  Bridgewater is, probably, a mid-to-low-tier starter.

But our defense... Eesh.  Is there anyone we really would want starting other than Brown, Chinn, Burns, and Shaq?  And Shaq, to me, is basically the equivalent of Teddy on D, heh.

In some ways its close, but given Brady's hype, I just think Snow is doing better.  Snow's defense actually seems to come up in clutch situations, while Brady's offense falters.  That is on Bridgewater sometimes, but sometimes it is on Brady.

Brown, Kerr, Burns and YGM is a very good or even great starting four (I know two of them were injured this game but they haven’t been injured all season). We don’t have a starting LB. worst corps in the league. Chinn is a stud, Boston and Jackson both get a lotta poo around here but they’re both borderline decent starters. Jackson more so than Boston, but he’s been dealing with that foot injury. And that FA CB we picked up has been very solid.

Our oline was terrible yesterday but it’s been decent for most of the season. We need a TE, a C and a G in addition to the QB and we’re good on offense.

Phil Snow has a defense of rookies and cast offs from other teams and they have been putting the offense in position to win games every single week

The offense is a massive disappointment given how much the defense has overachieved. They have a veteran QB in Bridgewater who crumbles in key moments, a “ hot-shot” offensive coordinator in Joe Brady’s play calling he been complete asshole at times, and an offensive line  full of veterans that can’t handle blitzes. Brady’s inexperience is starting to show.

Agree with this take. It's painfully obvious how terrible the defense is(arguably the worst we have ever fielded in the history of the franchise) but they always seem to hang around. The offense is struggling in the red zone and our OL is really falling apart.

All that said....the offense is putting us in position to win more often than not. The defense...not so much.

The defense is not terrible, it's young and inconsistent. It needs to be coaches up to realize better consistency and minimize penalties. Things like holding it giving your man way too much cushion, and repeatedly playing zone when man might be warranted (which is on the coach) speaks to coaching.

Someone told me we had the worst LBs in the league. I didn't believe them then, but now I have no answer.

This is a telling stat From the Observer on the inexperience of Brady: “In the second half of games this season, the Panthers are averaging just 8.5 points per game. Only the Jets (6.6) average fewer.”.

Not blaming him at all, he’s just new at this. I think both him and Snow will benefit a lot from this season and improve significantly for next year.

Considering the circumstances, I think both of them has done a good job tbh.

It’s obvious that Snow has much less talent to work with and still has the D ranked middle of the pack... Brady has very good skill position players and yet struggles to dial up plays that work consistently. And he doesn’t do a great job of adjusting when a defense is shutting us down.

We had one of the worst defenses in the NFL by any metric last year and proceeded to lose our 2 best defensive players without question, plus multiple meaningful starters like Addison and Irvin. The fact that our defense is middle of the pack this year despite that is unbelievable. We have no business being remotely good. I hate the 3 man rush and can't remember it ever working for us, but I also can't really complain too much about the ultimate results of our defense.

Our offense was expected to be good and have done ok but Brady has his ups and downs. I have no doubt he is still learning. The guy has barely called plays at any level before this and has to scheme against NFL defenses. I am hoping he improves as the season goes on, particularly in short yardage situations. But Snow without question has figured out to mask our talent deficiencies better than Brady.

i think joe bradys inability to adapt to the oline being hurt and  getting smoked last night is very telling. its easier to look good when you have drew brees and joe burrow and those offenses to execute your play calls.

i know Brady is in charge of the offense but don't we have an O-line coach on the field.  Shouldn't he be making adjustments.  It seems our O-line coach may not be up to the task of handling an NFL offensive line.
