It’s over. DROTY. Peppers, Kuechly and now Chinn. Extend Hurney now.

3 winning seasons in 14 years. You think he seriously had anything to do with Chinn? Look at 2018/2019 vs 2020 draft. He is absolutely terrible at team building. The members of this forum are right more often than he is. If you want continued failure and mediocrity on a good year by all means keep him. I have more faith in the Jets GM than Marty fugging Hurney.

But but...*something about players on small market teams*

Actually I have noticed a concerted effort by the NFL as a whole to boost the status of the Panthers this year.  You see our team and gear featured prominently in most overall NFL ads, and it seems they talk about us a lot more on all the talking head TV shows this season, even though we kinda suck.

The future is insanely bright here.

He's a cornerstone in a defense that lacks talent. Hopefully we can build upon his talent. He's a new generation Troy Polamalu.

We have more talent than you suggest. Brown, Burns and Yetos are a good foundation and Kerr  and Obada for example are solid rotationally. If you consider Shaq, Carter and Chinn as our 3 backers and that is solid as well. Then Burris has been decent and Boston has been streaky and MIA at crucial times so not a disaster but not a strength. And finally Douglas and Elder have made plays and blown coverages as well.  But I don't see how a passive zone is better than more man and pressure. At least use it so you can see how it works especially when you know the one you are using isn't.

Burns and Chinn are about the only ones that are consistently doing their job. Shaq and Brown are streaky but given Brown is a Rookie and it's Rookie wall time. Obada and Kerr are Joes along with Douglass. YGM is promising but has been injured quite a bit. Carter and Elder should not even be considered starting material on any NFL team along with Boston. I mean if you are going to sell me a poo sandwich over sell it don't tell me it's luke warm and decent. Next off season hopefully we will have a new GM and will play FA, the Draft, and UDFA well and up our talent level. Our coaches for the most part seem like they are good at progressing talent and that's exactly what we need. Yes our poo sandwich is overachieving but that doesn't make it any less stinky.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
