Fields was an open field runner and saw the defender and tried to make a move. He allowed himself to get hit and put the well being of his body into the hands of the defender at that point. 

Hopefully Fields learns and gets down next time instead of taking that hit

 

This.....I still think it's wrong to call that hit targeting, but these are the rules the game are played by.

Fields wouldn't have been touched if he had gone down, slid, whatever.  He wanted to challenge for more yards and he took the punishment.

That was the type of mistake Fields couldn't afford to make. He may have gotten hit but he was throwing into triple coverage.
