The Texans #3 overall pick goes to Miami this year, so perhaps Tua + 3 + 2nd rounder gets it done.

For Watson, it's a  no-brainer. Miami has a young up and coming team with a solid defense and a very competent and young coaching staff. Plus....it's freakin' Miami and he would be the biggest name the city has had since DWade.

Toss in the ability to draft either Ja'Marr Chase or Sewell at 3 overall and that Dolphins team is a perennial SB contender.

I’m confused. You traded 3 to Houston so how do you also get Chase and Sewell to become a SB contender.

Haha. This all started by an Owner making a dumb promise and then not keeping it. So incredibly stupid.

Could be great for Miami, not sure what else they would have to send. Tua and a 1st? Makes Tua look like a mistake.

Well they’d get compensated with a heavily talented player for admitting to that mistake. Haha

I don't see why y'all are so down on Tua at this point! He hasn't done anything but get his feet wet.

I’m not even that down on him, I still think he could become a franchise QB. But for a team like the Texans I would want the extra year of cheap team control from a draft pick, and frankly I just like these QB prospects this draft more than I liked Tua coming out, and Tua didn’t show enough this year to boost his stock. Not a slight on Tua, more just praise for this year’s crop of QBs.

I don't think it makes Tua look like a mistake. It would just be Miami rapidly accelerating the development of their QB position with a proven player. With the progress they've made overall that's an intriguing scenario.

I can respect that. I just think there's major risk drafting a QB, and I could easily see Tua right in there with these guys, but at least we have a little bit more to go on, being that he actually has professional experience.

You dont trade probably the 3rd best QB in the league for an undersized game manager with hip problems. The guy that just won the Heisman was Tua’s #3 receiver in college I’m not sure why people think so highly of him. He honestly reminds me of Teddy

Yeah he is still a bit of a question mark. That’s why I don’t think it will happen and if it does, it will take more than just Tua and their first.

If I were the Texans I’d prefer a high pick for one of the QBs in this draft than Tua.

Miami can actually give them both, Tua and pick 3.  Nothing stopping them from drafting Fields or Wilson and letting them fight it out with Tua.

Either way I think you are correct in that the best chance of enticing the Texans to actually trading Watson is if they think they can get a young, cheap QB out of the deal.

What if Jag offered pick 1 this year (Trevor) and 1st next?

What if Jets offered pick 2 this year (Wilson or Fields) and 2021 1st and 2022 1st?

They might actually pick up the phone for those.

The Dolphins number three overall pick was acquired by a trade with the Texans.

If it were involved in a trade for Watson, the Texans would basically be getting the first rounder they gave up back.

I'm not sure that's ever happened with a first round pick.

You obviously have never seen the documentary Draft Day.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
