A “start-up mentality.”

Fitterer said he wanted a 'start up' mentality.

Presumably this means that no position is safe and best player starts regardless of contract.

In theory this is great, but given how contracts work in the NFL is this practical?

Will the GM write shorter year contracts in order to be able to make it more affordable to move on from players when they under perform?

How is this realistically carried out?

I think he basically means fresh thinking, outside the box and more of a purpose with the franchise and it's decisions for the future. Goal-oriented, that kind of thing.

It's just tech world buzzword poo. He just means doing something other than we have for the previous 25 seasons.

This. It's the new "think outside the box" after saying "think outside the box" was only said by people who couldn't do it.

The Seahawks work this way.

Hurney did things the old practical way.

See results.

Start up mentality is basically "group think" and disruptor mentality. Expect our approach to FA/Drafting be something the NFL hasn't seen before.

What are we going to do that has not been seen?  Draft a punter in Round 1?

Start up mentality the new slang for rebuild from the rebuild last year?

Or are they going to make the office people work out of a garage?

Just kidding. Kind of a dumb saying when referring to a billions dollar business but whatever. Would have been a lot more exciting and relevant if this was all done last year but it's here, again lol.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
