Sam Darnold

Just like everything depends on the price. I will say this, I was competly done with Dave when he picked a RB over Sam, I thought sam would have played better. That one year contract makes this not worth more than a late rounder, imo. Im also a sucker for low risk, high reward deals and this is one of them.

Its easy to make excuses for him since he plays for Jets, and to blame the coaching and players around him, but stats like this make me nervous.

Having a clean pocket doesn't mean he has wide open receivers, you could have a clean pocket and have your receivers blanketed really well. This graphic doesn't really tell the full story in my opinion.

Would you trade Teddy and a 5th for Darnold?  I would be tempted just to dump that contract.

The problem is we are all going on the theory that the Jets get Watson.....they aren't going to want an albatross of a contract that Teddy brings!

We are talking about the Jets though!  🤣

this graphic isn't talking about completions, its talking about accurate passes so the separation of the receiver isn't a factor.   Might not be the full story, but its a good bit.

Stafford, who many are wanting us to trade for, isn’t far above him. A 3rd or less for a young Darnold makes more sense that a higher pick for an older Stafford.

    • Damn Logan Jones had a good day too. Was high on him coming in as he anchored that top Iowa line and is a fire plug inside. He's gonna be 25 to start the season so maybe he slips into the 4th but I doubt it, even if C isn't a premium position. His play on the field was top notch and the combine boosted it again. Arm length is about the only knock. But guy is plug and play at C.   This is a loaded class at C. Need to grab one.
    • Bryce will be permanently replaced by a draft pick. There's not another Sam Darnold out there to save us. Tepper is going to see this throw because he dumped Mayfield and Darnold too soon. He's going to give it 1 more year before he will sign off on dumping another 1st round pick qb. Thats the cold hard truth of it. It doesn't mean we can't get younger and much better at the backup position.
    • Maybe I should have used a different word and saved that for me. I want someone that has something impressive about them.  Someone that has potential to supplant a guy who is producing 25th best type of numbers. 22nd, 27th all that bottom third neighborhood.  I don’t know where that will come from it just can’t be from even a 4th round pick this year IMO. Unless FA is crazy productive.    I’ll give Bryce a better than bottom rating for his playoff game. Well above low twenties. But at least half of his games were bottom third level. Probably 2/3 to 3/4 of them were.
