That’s a lot of money for a guy who started one game. Heinicke reminds me of Minshew or Keenum, guys who threw the ball a ton in college so they know the nuance of the position but have little talent.

Did you watch Heinicke in college? Or look at his stats? He was far more than a guy who just threw the ball a lot.

Obviously but I’m guessing he would average about 15 tds a year with how he plays. My point is teddy was worth a 2 year 8 million contract not a 3 year 63 million. It was an absurd contract that many posters called out as soon as it was released.

What you meant wasn't implied by what you said, so it wasn't obvious to me. But I do agree with you on the contract.

Probably why NE gave him a contract. Oh wait...

Well that’s more of a mural thing if you actually know what you’re talking about. There’s a reason why no other QB wants to go there and why Tom left. The fuging roster is a mess. Might have the worst skill position group in the league.

Yet Cam walked into a team with the most opt outs, no WRs, no TEs, no offseason, Caught Covid and couldn’t practice for weeks AND STILL won more games than the Panthers...

Hurney isn’t the GM apparently and 8 million for 2 years is nothing. We paid a dude 63 million dollars to throw 15 tds.

That's $1.4M per TD.  So that means that if that's the going rate for a Teddy TD, we would have had to give him $56M this year for a 40 TD season.  We just didn't pay him enough was all.

Regarding his contract, some of you over reacted.

https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/details_revealed_of_taylor_henickes_two_year_extension/s1_16457_34077524#:~:text=Heinicke receives %24500%2C000 in guaranteed,up to %24500%2C000 in 2021.

Details of Taylor H's contract.

Year 1

1 million dollar contract, with half guaranteed.  For the other half, he has to be on the roster

Year 2

1.5 million

Roster bonus up to 750,000.

Its actually a pretty good contract for the team.  And not a bad one for him as it is a lot more than he was making  But to make the full amount, he is going to have to earn it.

Marty signing a guy with a propensity to get injured? 🤔

This is Rivera's signing.  There is no doubt of that.

Martin Mayhew will report directly to Head Coach Ron Rivera according to the team's press release announcing his hiring. This confirms multiple reports that Rivera is still firmly in charge of football operations, and has been since Dan Snyder brought him in to run a coach-centric organization. Mayhew and Hurney were reportedly his top two candidates to join the front office and work under him to continue building the culture and rebuilding(reloading?) the team.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
