You're full of it, but you know that already. Preseason can't be equated to a regular season. Just stop!

Pal, a hold-out is a hold-out...

...Bell was dumb enough to hold out twice and ownership didn't "fold" either time.

Do you really believe Deshaun is dumb enough to put multi-million dollar game checks at risk by holding out?

Show us one NFL QB who has ever done so....

Yea, I’ve got no problem giving up the 3 firsts. That ain’t no thing. Honestly, I could be talked into giving up a 4th. I want this years 2nd, though. I would like to keep the 2nds for the next 3 years. I feel this regime will be much better in the later rounds.

I am not willing to give up that much draft capital. I love Watson but we can't be a team that has to wait until his second mega-deal to compete. Trading away that many first round draft picks(plus more, I am sure) is not the way to do it.

We just aren't the team that can afford that price. Maybe in 2 years.

It makes sense why he would want a star qb.

We are a completely irrelevant franchise without one.

Hell, we were mostly an irrelevant franchise when we had an MVP playing qb for us.

The entire organization needs a facelift and it starts with putting a winning product on the field.

Do you think it matters the reason for sitting out? Bell sat out for money, Watson is sitting out bc issues with upper management. I can’t remember, did Bell request a trade?

Yes.

Watson has not sat-out a single day...nor do I expect he will.

Hurt feelings are no reason to take a pass on $146,540,000.

Haha not decades, but maybe a decade.

It's going to take us 5 years just to get back to the playoffs right now and that's just with poor drafting. Zero first round picks for 4 years would be triple that at the best.

Oh only $110,000,000 huh...gotcha.

Luck had already banked $110,000,000 when he retired...LOL.

If you're correct and Watson does walk away from the game and retire, will be interesting to watch --- what kind of odds are you placing on that exact scenario playing out?

well, I think you are missing the point.  There are different degrees of fug you money.  But Watson already has real fug you money from football and endorsements.   He isn't a random average player the league can push around.

I never said I think Watson walks away from football and retires.  I think Watson is willing to be that dude who brings this to the NFL and will sit a season to flex.   Just as owners are looking at Hou ownership, players are looking at Watson.

I do not think he plays football for Houston this season (pending the FO isn't cleaned up).  I'd put that at over 50% and therefore the most likely aspect.  How him not playing for Hou this season under current leadership is constructed plays out? Well, that could go lots of ways.  Sits.  Traded.  Either could happen.

why would it triple it? The average contract of a 1st round pick is 4.33 years. It's extremely rare that a player plays for a franchise for a decade. It's also not as common for a 1st round pick to resign with their team after the first contract (56%). A team losing four first round picks, wouldnt set them back decades

I mean if you look at the patriots during their dynasty run, what did their first round picks really do for the franchise?  Yet they won 4 SBs regardless of their drafting.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
