Also deshaun might be vying for best qb in the entire league year in and year out with Patrick Mahomes in the not so distant future. That’s why people are so hyped about acquiring him. Watch his games, he is on the precipice of being the best in the league and he’s 25 fuging years old. I get why it’s so tempting.

He's definitely good but the question is can we surround him with enough talent after giving up multiple firsts and our own stars to get him.

Yeah I mentioned that in my other post. And he’s more than good. He’s a top 5 qb with the potential to be the very best in the league. Deshaun also has that clutch gene.

I think too many of you must watch Billions and think that having all that money gives you more balls than brains. That's the only reasoning I can come up with as to why so many of you seem to think Tepper or anyone else in the Panthers organization would be dumb enough to telegraph their intentions so publicly and basically show their belly to Houston.

After how public they made their negative views on the QB situation, and by proxy Teddy, I'm just not understanding the public strategies (assuming this Watson thing is true). Perhaps the whole idea though was/is to make it abundantly clear that Carolina was serious about any/all potential deals.

Even then though I can't agree with the approach.

I doubt we'd put this out there so the Texans can drive up the price. I wouldn't look too much into this.

I would imagine that the Texans already know that we are All-In.  You have to think our GM and theirs have already discussed this in detail....

Yep. It sounds like he's gone nuclear quietly behind the scenes but is trying to stay quiet and let others do his communication to the public. He might have to go nuclear publicly.

Watson just sent out a tweet a little while ago talking about how important loyalty is to him.

I sure as hell hope that this isn’t true.  The first three years of this guy’s ownership have been a disaster anyway.  I don’t know if he has a clue what he’s doing.

I don't know about it being a disaster....thats a little strong.  There are growing pains, but it seems we have the right coach, the right OC and hopefully the right GM in place.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and all that jazz....

No way the panthers just put this out. You don’t do that when you’re trying to make a deal.

and deshaun could block this trade. He’s already said he won’t go to a team that mortgages their future to get him because that’ll leave him in the same situation he’s been in on the Texans. I honestly think he’s either going to sit out the season, or go for less than what people think because deshaun WILL have a say in this trade. He has some power.

Let’s say he accepts that trade of Burns/Chinn and 3/4 first round picks. You just hope to rebuild with 2nd-7th round players around him for the next 3/4 years. No doubt we would SUCK epically this upcoming year.

like I said before this will either go down as the best thing that’s ever happened to this franchise or the absolute worst. If these reports are true, Tepper is putting all his chips on the table and this has the capacity to turn this franchise into the worst run in the entire league or he looks insanely brilliant and Matt and co. coach up non blue chip prospects for half a decade. There doesn’t seem to be any in between here. It’s an insanely risky move.

Well thats the rub, isnt it?  Any team that trades for Watson is going to have to give up the farm.  There is no trade scenario that does not rape the team that Watson is going to.

    • I'm not a Bryce hater and I would 100% move on.  Especially looking at how the upcoming qb draft looks on paper.  Hopefully he continues to improve but if in 3 seasons you're still chasing average season numbers then he's not going to be the guy.  You've just got to keep taking swings until you hit.  Average qbs without any elite physical traits cant get it done anymore.  So this year Hopefully he continues to develop and is above average statistically.
    • Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.
    • The Rams wanted to trade up for Williams who they ended up within the end. They even told him that when they called him to let him know he is the pick. The other teams are only an assumption. Like the Cowboys, who took a guard. The truth is the team wanted to trade down first and foremost but couldn't get an offer the were happy with. They took McMillan because they felt he was bpa at 8 plain and simple.
