How he wasn't even in the discussion is what pissed me off.  He was 2 time defensive rookie of the Month whereas Young didn't win it once.   How do you win two of four months and aren't even considered.  Young was the more high profile player and that's it.  He had a great year but to not include Chinn in the discussion is absurd.

DEs aren’t going to get more tackles than LB/SS. Young was great at keeping QBs contained and adding pressure. I’m not saying Chinn didn’t deserve it, but DEs kind of get the QB treatment for these awards. Sacks/pressures get more attention that tackles. Regardless I’m glad we have Chinn and love hearing about him learning under Luke. We have Burns as our pass rushing specialist so it’s really win win.

Also tackles are an indication that your offense cannot stay on the field Long enough for the defense to rest. Teams with the most tackles are usually teams with losing  records and teams with the most sacks tends to be winning teams.
