I think Pitts is a helluva prospect. Probably the most dynamic TE prospect since Vernon Davis.

With that said... we need a fuging QB. He'd be a waste if we don't address that. #8 needs to be about a QB. Either drafting one or trading for assets to get a QB next year.

I agree I just think people throw around "generational" a little bit much. I am not sure they have any idea what that actually implies.

We have Arnold (6-6 225 lb TE) and Sullivan (6-5, 240 lb coverted WR to TE at LSU) are lesser versions of Pitts--so if we take a pass catching TE in round 1, I would expect heads to roll.

I don't understand this mindset.

If our scouts / evaluators / coaching staff grade Pitts as a mismatch player (which he is from what I've seen of him in College), then a) he's worth a 1st round pick and b) he'll put Arnold and Sullivan (who?!) in the shade.

The question is not "Is he worth a first round pick?" The question is, "Is he worth trading away multiple picks to get *back* into the first round to pick up, when we have multiple needs at positions of greater import, like LT and CB.

A weapon like Pitts is a valuable asset. No doubt multiple teams will see him on the board at 8 and offer to trade with us. I hope they value him as much as OP because we'll make a mint on that trade.

I was once a non-believer, but I finally saw my errors. Pitts was the focus of great defensives AND he still put up big numbers. Bama put surtian on him as a shadow, fyi that top 15 #1 outside CB.... Pitts still got over 100 and 2 TDs. When the SEC is going all out to stop one player and can not, well you are special.

I think Rhule was playing games, he was dropping a "Rookie TE not being productive" comment in a presser. Funny thing is if Pitts was a slot guy, hed be the #1 slot guy too. Just happens he can block..... somewhat..

Pitts had 1 catch for 10 yards against Surtain.  And he had 2 catches for 25 yards if you add in zone coverage as a "matchup."  This is not helping your case.

Why are you trading back into the first round for him?

Take him at #8, or trade down to later in the first round if you think he's not quite worth that / you have a good offer.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
