Same, but for Fields.

To me it's Wilson / Lawrence - big gap - Fields / Jones - gap - Lance (dude is all potential) - Mond - everyone else.

Fair enough. I like Fields quite a bit, and Lance's potential is something I value more than Jones' production.  But I'll be interested to see how the draft plays out and I'll be excited regardless I think.

Because they think a guy that obliterated the SEC on his way to a National Title is a good player?

NCAA is practice for the NFL and doesn't matter in the NFL where they are professionals. The tape is important for the draft process and that's it. It only matters to NCAA fans. We are talking NFL here.

How many national champion QBs have won a SB in the last 20 years? Or ever? Your measuring stick does not work in reality.

Commentators are basically fangirling over Wilson's workout so far.

And even as someone who's questioned whether I would trade up to get him, I gotta admit he looks damn good.

Definitely getting Russell Wilson vibes...

It's just the cost I really dislike. He should be a good QB in the NFL.

ZACH WILSONQB, COLLEGE PLAYER
zach_wilson.jpg

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Eagles were interested to trading up to No. 3 overall, but only for BYU QB Zach Wilson.

In other words, the Jets are locked in at Wilson at No. 2. After their designs on No. 3 were thwarted, the Eagles instead moved down to No. 12, getting a 2022 first-rounder from the Dolphins for the price of sliding only six spots. With Wilson seemingly the guy at No. 2, it would seem North Dakota State QB Trey Lance is the 49ers' most likely target at No. 3.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
