You either do none or you got to do 90, 1, 89.

89 - I am good with

A maybe

90- could see it either way

Then the no's

59 - great, then injuries made him just good, and then gone too early

1 - incredible performances sprinkled with lousy ones,  injuries and gone too early

58- good story with the 3 ACL's ,but had 3 shortened seasons

17 - fiery player for way too short a time.

Nope retire Cams jersey ASAP just to be sure

I personally think that should be done. This franchise changed for the better while he was in Charlotte and while he was polarizing for some, his overall impact was incredibly positive. His stats, 55 TD's in 2015, speak for themselves.

I personally wish the talking heads wouldn't gloss over his stats from that season as it really was one of the single greatest individual performances in THE MODERN ERA.

Yes... I think the concept of retiring jerseys is stupid unless you are an absolute all time great in the history of the sport (MJ, Gretzky) or you so impactful you must be honored (Jackie Robinson). The Ring of Honor (or similar recognition) is how you memorialize your all time greats.

I believe I remember seeing that Notre Dame has a sign in the lockler of each player with the names and feats of players who wore the number before they did. Might be the best way to keep history alive and well.

Cam being a world beater wearing #1 shouldn't keep another guy from wearing it. Same goes for 89, 69, 80.. etc

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
