So what if one of the qbs drop in.the draft? Why did we rush this???

I'd like to think this was basically hedging our bets to prevent absolute disaster of being left with only teddy at QB if all the top QB were drafted ahead of us?

the market just said 3 first rounders was the cost to go up to #3 and draft a college QB.   And that kid frankly, is no safer gamble than pulling Sam out of NY and trying him.

Oh, I'm with you, I think. I wasn't too keen on trading multiple firsts either. I always said that we had to do a cost-value analysis and look at all the options.

Go Darnold!

Only argument that makes sense against this trade is if the jets are taking Wilson at 2 which Is expected then darnold could be had for cheaper after the draft...but I still like the panthers wanting to get a clear picture of needs before the draft

a 2022 second has third round trade value in 2021.  So the fourth is actually a fifth.

Add em up--we saved our picks this year, to build around the qb.  We tossed away a 3 and a 5 and a 6.  Boo hoo.  Some of you crack babies wanted to send 3 first rounders and 2 elite players to Houston for guy who really craves deep tissue pecker rubs.

Brother until an hour ago I was on your train but now that ship has sailed.  We are riding and dying with Darnold.  We are not drafting a qb at 8

If Fields or Lance falls to #8, I  wouldn't 100% bet against it.  This is essentially a 2-year deal for Darnold.  We gave up on Teddy after just 1 year and his contract ran 3years.

qbs have to make plays in clutch situations. Can darnold be clutch? I don’t know but from everything I’ve read/watched the best we can hope for him is a glorified game manager.

Though the metric can be flawed, I look at comebacks and game-winning drives as an indicator of how clutch a player is.

Data :

Sam Darnold has led 3 comebacks, and had 4 game-winning drives in his 38 career starts.

Teddy Bridgewater has led 5 comebacks, and ahd 6 game-winning drives in 49 career starts.

To be fair, a Kia Sorrento is a high quality automobile, and comes for a fraction of the cost and maintenance associated with a Rolls Royce.

this here is where the source of the support for this move comes from

youve got a bunch of dorks so concerned the team would trade away their precious 1st round pick and then they’d have to sit bored all offseason with nobody listen to their deep scout hot takes player breakdowns

youre going to be a lot more bored watching Sam Darnold lead the team to 3 and out drive after drive

    • I hate to praise Atlanta but what they did was not dumb. The only issue is where they drafted Penix. #8 overall was very high for a QB with Penix’s injury history. But it wasn’t a bad decision. I wish the Panthers took a broader approach to finding a franchise QB after Cam.  Cousins is old and recovering from a serious injury, so he is obviously a temporary placeholder. It makes sense they hedged their bet on Cousins, because Atlanta was burned by holding onto Matt Ryan too long while his skills degraded. If Cousins can still play, Penix gets to sit on the bench and learn which has proven to be a winning strategy for developing young QBs. If Cousins sucks or gets hurt again, they have a legit backup plan to see what they have in Penix.  Where are the Panthers if Bryce gets hurt or sucks again this season? The season is over and they’ll be considering drafting another QB next year.
    • Same as when Jordan Gross said that having to block Julius Peppers made him a better player. But I mean no sh*t, having to block one of the best DE’s of all time will up your game. I bet Gross went up against other DE’s in games and was like, this is nothing. Horn isn’t that level of player obviously, but Legette has his work cut out for him going against Horn in practice. The coaches should be able to tell pretty quick what they have in Legette.
