Remember you have to allow for around 7 million or so (if I remember correctly) for draft picks, plus some for transactions during the season.

Basically, we've got nada.

$7M sounds right, and right now we have about $10M.  While that is cutting it close, we also have 4 times as much as the rest of our division.......combined.

Some names to look at post draft for additional cap relief based on positions drafted:

(Numbers rounded for a quick summary)

Justin Burris - 4.8M cap hit / 1M in dead money = 3.8M cap available to create

Frankie Luvu - 1M cap hit / 180K in dead money = just under 1M

Cutting / trading TB would free up 2M in cap = around 2M

Extending a guy like Donte' or even Robbie would also create some additional relief

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could see Burris being the easiest to move on from if we draft a Safety high enough:

Chinn / Rookie / - Depth - Franklin / Hartsfield

Could also see TB traded as we CAN afford to keep him, no value in a straight release

Teddy frees up 2.9 million at the least and 17.9 million at most depending on whether he's traded or cut and when.

We’re fine keep in mind we made Tre Boston a June 1st cut

Good catch. This is $3.55 million more space. This puts us better than average in cap space most likely (I'm not researching every teams Jun 1 cap designations) and better than the mean.

    • These kickers are getting so good
    • They're pretty far off, double T-Mac's stats to get to the same targets as XL and it would be 4 drops to 7.  A 3 drop difference might not sound like a lot, but it's still almost twice as many drops on the same number of targets. Not to mention, if I remember correctly, XL's drop problems last year seemed more down field, where he was dropping passes he should be making and it was clear his poor hands were there reason he dropped them. And weren't both of T-Mac's drops this year on quick hitters with blockers out in front of him?  I know at least the second one was as he was going to go for a huge play and maybe a TD on it. To me, and yes, I'd say this about any other player, those are drops because a rookie was trying to do too much in making a play before securing the catch.  Much easier to improve upon a lapse in concentration than dropping passes because you have bricks for hands and body catch more often than hands catch, like with XL. And yes, 100%, which is why I wasn't one of those people you were referring to with talking about him that way last year.  Yes, I said he had drop problems., because he did, but I didn't think they were unsolvable and expected to see great improvement this year after an offseason of hitting the juggs machine (unfortunately not sure that happened though).
