Is it big city v small town? (country music)

I call them footgloves. Who plays tennis in footgloves? Barbarians.

I've used both, but growing up everyone always called them tennis shoes.

Grew up in the south. Called them tennis shoes until my 30s. Now I'm in my 40s and call them sneakers. Or ... just "shoes".

99% of the time I'm in flops though.

"Sneakers." I grew up in the South, but my family is all Midwesterners, so I unwittingly use a lot of Detroit jargon. Therefore I can't definitively say which regional dialect that's attributable to.
