Shi is a bit surprising.

Is it though?

They don't differentiate between X, Y and Z receivers. He gets crushed in the height / weight section of his RAS score because there's 6'4" monsters roaming the NFL at WR.

If you go to Christensen’s spider chart I found it interesting to see that Brady was most comparable to Rashawn Slater.

Knowing this staff viewed Slater more as a guard (I think) than tackle I wonder if they figured they’d be better off rolling the dice on the guy who was a true LT in college. Not to mention we grabbed Brady in the 3rd whereas we would’ve had to spend the 8th overall pick on Slater.

I'm not sure what they thought of Slater - I personally think he'll be a good LT in this league.

I think the lower down the Draft you go the more comfortable you are with taking players with 'flaws'. i.e. if you're hesitant to take Slater at #8 overall due to his arm length, but a very comparable player is there at #70 then you jump all over that.

Yeah that was a total homer post. Looks like the staff is hinging on him losing weight because he does have some skills but his weight cost him his RAS score. But those are the types of risks you take in the sixth round. He does have talent.

Indeed. Very good gamble. If he is even a two deep player for the entire rookie contract, that is a HR for a 6th round pick.

I'll take undersized with ideal athleticism all day everyday over the guy who everyone drools over his Inspector Gadget arms but who can't actually move.

A key point this year is that during COVID there was a minimal combine, fewer team/player interactions and a lot of guys you just wouldn't have seen in person.  So, in this situation, a pretty good draft strategy is simply taking the most athletic players possible at the positions you need.  Then trust that your staff can coach these guys up.

Rhule & company seemed to have done just that.

Brown doesnt need to be athletic. that over rated for gaurds.  Can you move that other 300 pound man directly in front of you out of the way?

hes a dump truck that will plow a hole for our RBs. Cant ask for more than that where we got him.

Saw a twitter post about him, comparing him to a Blastoise. fuging had me rolling. Dude is a hog molly and we love them around here.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
