Even if Marshall works out, it will be a tough look if none of Erving, Elflein or Christensen can be above average NFL starters. That was our biggest non-QB need this offseason and so those were very, very important decisions.
I like Marshall a lot but I did feel like that was a little bit of a luxury pick. Ultimately, I really like our WR corps but it's hard for them to be effective when the QB is mostly horizontal.
I really, really wanted to go OL in the 2nd and 3rd.
The one thing on this is that I am assuming they are confident in Erving and Elflein and that opened them up to taking the risk on Marshall. That along will thinking Christensen would be available in the 3rd.
I said this during the draft as well and I think we were thinking the same thing. We knew Marshall wouldn’t be there at Christensen’s pick so we decided to risk Christensen being available and he was. I know there was some rumor that we got tipped but anyone would have known. I thought that and I didn’t get tipped because another WR next to Thomas is a huge need for NO. It also seemed like they reached on that LB a bit almost as if they assumed we wouldn’t take Marshall.
