I seriously doubt 2 of the 3 between QBs between Walker, Grier and Stevens are on the roster come September.  I'm more partial to Walker, personally. Chalk Grier up as a loss and move on.  It's on Marty Hurney that we are likely to flush a former 3rd round pick, but it's pointless to keep him based on draft position if the team thinks he doesn't have what it takes.

Why I can't say I have confidence in Grier, he's going into his 3rd year and he may be a lot better then last time we saw him.

His parents must be crushed by this news.  One more year at university and Kevin Thomson could have completed his doctorate degree in Footballology.

Bottom line:  Stay in school kids.

Sounds like the starting QB for the Uni team I played for here in the UK.

He was dogshit, but he was going for a Doctorate and was on the team committee, so obviously he started every game.

Would grad school students be  eligible to play for college teams?

Apparently there is a waiver for such players. Still not sure what this gentleman’s major is but grad student are apparently eligible to compete in Div 1 beyond the 4 year mark.

They should be. I kind of like Ramsey as a backup. Smart QB just has limited ability. I think he is capable of stepping in a game or two and playing safe football to steal a win/not lose the game.

Actually, yeah, I think he takes a roster spot here. Smart guy who has the skills to go in for an emergency run. He'd be a good observer on the sidelines as well and wouldn't be a threat to Darnold right now.

If things went crazy, who knows, he might have a bit of that Jake spark in him.

He could put his skills to use here working out 14 years of practice squad eligibility.

If I remember correctly, teams are only allowed something like five tryout players this year.

If two of our five are going to be quarterbacks, our current backups might have reason to be a little nervous.

If you find yourself sitting in the Carolina Panthers QB room, you SHOULD be nervous.

I’m not sure another team has a QB room that from top to bottom could be shuffled at random and be close to the actual opening day roster?

Disagree. Darnold is the clear starter and head and shoulders above anyone else.

Beyond Darnold though, pretty much everyone else is easily replaceable.

I’ll concede that Sam is the starter day 1.  (And) I think he’s going to have success. However, if he doesn’t...  That’s gonna make more than Sam a little nervous.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
