Come September, he might not be.

Exactly. I have the same gut feeling that he either shapes up or he will be shipped out.

This is no longer a Jerry Richardson, Ron Rivera, Marty Hurney run team that coddles deadwood that does not meet expectations.

Manhertz beat this kid out last year and we know what type of receiver he was/is. I would have thought that would have motivated him...but we didn't see much of an impact on the field. I hope he improves and does well but I will be a little surprised if he does--whether its for us or someone else.

We don't really use the TE as much as we did in our past offenses, at least it didn't seem like it last year.

It might have helped, of course, if we had some decent TEs, but Ian Thomas fits the bill of a lot of guys who wash out of the league. All the talent in the world and none of the work ethic. Route running is a major component of pass catching in the NFL. Especially at a position that generally doesn't just outrun it's competition, you have to be able to get open through proper technique.

I don't have much hope that Thomas will get it right at this point.

I think that's kind of a "chicken or the egg" debate.

Did we not use the tight end much last year because we didn't want to or was it because our tight end options weren't that good?

    • I don't recall anyone seeing this coming.  I mean, two seperate things for me.  I thought BB just might not work in college football because he is old grumpy man and college is about appealing to young kids.   So yeah, that could of gone great or horrible.  Coin flip.  This isn't that convo for me.  what we are witnessing right now play out.....this was never part of the disaster possibility/path discussed lol.  Really weird stuff.  Or maybe I missed the part where UNC hires a 20 year old "girlfriend" that apparently runs the Bill operation and before the season even starts is taking over more than just Bill but influence of the entire UNC operation.  That was her getting that official statement made today.  It was her sabotaging the Hard Knocks UNC show because she somehow wasn't the star.  Seems like elder abuse lol.  Only largely kidding.  You even got Charles Barkley saying he normally doesn't talk about personal lives of his friends but he might have to check in on Bill because this ain't normal stuff lol.  Anyway, it's entertaining.  Everything is a cartoon it seems these days.
    • I think its strange how you were claiming this guy was the second coming of Mike Evans and you can't even get behind 1k yards? I guess I have more faith in him than you
    • Who didn't see entertainment coming? It's either going to be a raving success or an absolute dumpster fire of a disaster. There's was never any gray area.
