Is Denzel Perryman the Carolina Panthers’ most underrated player?

Hes a helluva upgrade over Whitehead and Carter, although Carter is a good back/rotational guy.

Kind of hard to be great when the shadows of Luke are still on the field.  We were spoiled for 8 years with an amazing linebacker.

No matter how well he does everyone is going to wish Luke was still there.

Perryman does quality as a pretty significant upgrade at a position that was a point of need for us.

Jermaine Carter did a respectable enough job at middle linebacker once Tahir Whitehead was finally benched last season. That said, Perryman has a far more impressive resume, notably his skills around the ball.

Perryman is a quality linebacker who should definitively improve our young defense that needs a little more experience.

Perryman's biggest issue is health. If he can stay healthy, I think he can become a guy we keep around and plays well for us.

It's Haason Reddick by a landslide. We have a guy on the roster who had 12.5 sacks last season - literally the 4th most sacks in the NFL last season - and virtually no one is talking about him. Wild.

Most of his sacks were in one game. I don’t know how consistently he performed the rest of the season.

True he wasn't ultra consistent. If he was, we would have had to pay more.  That said ... He didn't start until week 6, had 7 games with at least 1 sack (5 as a starter), 3 games with forced fumbles, and 16 qb hits.  So he was getting to the QB more than just one game.

    • https://x.com/4thand1show/status/1975274357174784272?s=46   saw this this morning and came to post something similar. I didn’t just love the team or the wins, I loved those dudes man. They put everything they had out there every Sunday. You didn’t see a rep where anybody on that field was low effort in that era, and if you did they were quickly sent packing.
    • …is Brycen Tremayne with 108 yards. Not sure what that tells us but I imagine it’s some sort of gumbo consisting of the following: - Bryce can’t push the ball downfield  - contrary to what many were saying this offseason, the wr still needs a lot of work.  - we need Coker back badly.  - Brycen is pretty good! Congrats to that young man! Curious to hear other’s read on it. Was a pretty surprised to see he had more yards than anyone other than Tet and thought that was symptomatic of our issues on offense.
    • I don’t think many fans would have guessed the Chiefs and Ravens would be where they are right now. Same goes for some surprise packages like the Colts, I’m not sure many would have put money on them being top of their division after five weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if this continues!   Not necessarily. The Chargers have lost both starting OL and their 1st and 2nd choice RBs. They fell apart against Washington. The Broncos have just beat the Eagles, so they’d be my favourite in that division, but they are still only one win ahead of the Chiefs. All the Chiefs need is a couple of results to go their way and they’ll be right in the fight for the AFC East. I think that division is going to be very close and probably not a 12 or 13 win division like predicted. Unless of course the Broncos kick on.
