Second string QB remains a long distance away from the starter in terms of QB play. I am not certain Walker or Grier both make the team this season. The Panthers really could use a decent backup.

Really don't understand what they see in Walker and Grier to not bring in a 4th. Should explore trading for Minshew if the cost is low or bringing in Matt Barkley or Blake Bortles, neither are good, but at least provide veteran presence.

I thought Bortles signed with GB? I assume we are waiting on roster cuts, but it’s going to put our backup behind as far as learning the offense/playbook goes…

The starting line group today was:

LT: Cam Erving  LG: Pat Elfein  Center: Matt Paradis  RG: John Miller  RT: Taylor Moton

Don’t blitz on our left side…. I honestly think Elf will be solid, Erving is the one I’m concerned with especially at LT.

I heard BC was practicing guard with the twos.  Anyone confirm?  If so, L or R?

Also, being from Wilmington, I can attest that is hotter than 2 squirrels fugging in a wool sock.

I'm here now...it's hot, but it's not center of the state hot here.

At least there is a 10 knot breeze here almost all the time.

Oh, and the chicks...which is the reason a TC would be a bad idea here.

I would figure having Minshew on the team until Sunshine can actually take over would be the prudent thing to do for the Jags.  Would not figure on seeing a trade until maybe after the 3rd preseason game if at all.

Trading Gardner for anything less than a 3rd would be pretty stupid for them.  Decent starter, great backup that has playing experience for that kind of money?

Yea, if I were them, unless he's messing with the locker room chemistry, he's on the roster until his deal is out.

Anybody who played LB for us last year should be concerned about their job…we were awful

This is not true. Shaq played better than almost everybody gives him credit for. And once Carter took over for Whitehead, our D stepped it up a notch.

Carter was with the 1s yesterday. So the Coaches noticed.

I would give them a 3rd in a heartbeat.  I would even throw in Grier and Little to sweeten the deal.

I'm a big fan of his personally.  I do think that he can be a starter, just needs some talent around him.

He would be a great backup at the very least.  That is worth a 3rd all day everyday.  If you get more out of him then you profit tremendously.

I do wonder if he's going to want to be a backup when he moves on?  Could be an issue.

I'm still a little shocked that Denver didn't go after him pretty hard, or maybe a lot of teams did, and JAX knows he's worth keeping.  Who knows?

    • Only thing I really see it doing is possibly making Tepper listen if a different play caller can't run the offense because of limitations. New hire, someone who hasn't been watching Bryce for the past 3 years up close may be able to talk some sense if he sees that he isn't able to get the job done.

    • Not sure there is anything that will do that outside of Young actually being a legit top 12 QB. Where he won’t need excuses made for him.  It is just as likely to multiply them.
