Don't know.  He's not starting.

Ugh. I don’t like that. I hope they got/get serious reps in practice. I get the why bother playing them in meaningless games and risk injury sentiment. But

A) They are rookies and need the reps.
B) It’s a clear fact without proper reps at game speed players are WAY WAY more sustainable to injury during the beginning of the season. Especially old boys like Paradis.

Yeah.  If you don't mind, please take it to the other three threads.  Lots of opinions shared on this.
Horn didn't dress, so he's not playing.

It’s fair to assume that the league is beginning to realize that preseason isn’t as valuable as once perceived.

Last year’s lack of preseason really changed the mindsets of franchises

Preseason is for evaluation. And letting fans get to know the new guys.

I think this is more of “can tremble show out and take Ian’s job” rather than “let’s put Ian in to secure his job”

I can see that I suppose as he isn't a rook. Yet T Marshall and B Christensen but no J Horn? Agree that preseason is becoming less and less neccessary for risk but if our first rounder can't even see some action why even put either of the first 3 picks out there? We got the Taints week 2 these fellas are going to get tested early.

I'm not sure what's so confusing about the situation. We've seen the depth chart. We've seen the starting lineup for today.

He said we wouldn't see starters because they got their reps on Thurs and Friday and cuts are coming early week.

That's what we are seeing happen.

    • While I really hope things pan out for the young man, sometimes you've got to make a calculated guess on your returns. I wanted so bad to see us use our first round pick on a LB, C or TE this season, but I think this one injury changes everything. I might suggest taking the best and the second best OTs available in the draft with our first and second round picks. The injury to Icky really makes the first one a good choice and an affordable one. And Moton, who is long in the tooth, needs someone in the wings behind him.  This also means that BC is going to need to get a contract for this upcoming season both as a starter at LT and to train the younger player behind him. Also it means that we need to extend a solid contract to Cade Mays and lock him down as our Center for the next four years. Maybe Icky can recover fully and be a starting LT again, but the odds aren't in his favor. Maybe he could be back in line to play as a guard right as our current starters' contracts wind down. It's not pretty having to spend all your picks and money on the line, but it seems to be the wise investment in light of everything.
    • Unfortunate situation.  if one of the top LTs fall in the draft I think it’s a no brainer draft pick. Then if icky returns he can move to guard and replace one of our highly paid guards that are here now.
    • I dont really expect anyone to have any character or values when the system doesn't. I would respect those who did though. College Football is losing what little interest I had in it. I wasn't against giving the athletes some control but whatever this system is will kill it over time.
