Or an injury settlement. Haven't heard if there has been an update to the severity of the injury, but would we really put him on IR this early? Do we have nearly unlimited spots/times like last year?

I believe the NFL changed the IR rules permanently to make it unlimited and anyone can come off of IR when they're healthy. BUT if you put someone on IR before the season they can't come back, the player has to be on your roster after final cuts and then put on IR otherwise they're out for the season. I bet we waive/injure him and no one claims him and he goes on our IR and will be back next offseason (only to likely get cut again unless he takes a step forward).

One big plus about not using any starters was also to give everyone else as many chances to prove themselves as possible. I'm sure the brass will have a better understanding as to who is going to stay and who is cut.

Money's on that linemen that had back to back False starts to be cut. Or it might have been close to each other, don't remember.

1st one was RT Monteiro, the second was LT Ivey, and third was everyone but the center, so the center had the snap count wrong.

I'm sure the 5 they cut today are the same 5 they knew they would cut all along.

But but but…Rhule said he needed to not play his starters to figure out these 5 cuts.  No NFL coach would just be up their bullshitting us about these things

What team wants an unvaxxed always injured average linebacker at this point? They should have vetted these guys better before signing

I don't want to judge him, but it's just the combination of all the issues with him that makes him just seem like he's not all in...  the speeding ticket, saying outright he's not getting the vaccine despite almost the entire team having gotten it and on top of that he isn't a superstar, and the team has gotten used to playing without him because he has been injured the entirety of TC and apparently is nowhere close to being ready either.

Honestly I think this was probably his last shot in the league.   Our desperation may have caused a  premature evaluation.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
