Perspective, Directive, and Erective - The Panthers offensive woes and you

Fair point about the O-line getting blown up that play. I was so fixated on Hubbard, that I missed the complete collapse. Speaking of Chuba, he even caught a clean pass last night. He's going to have to continue to work on his hands. That's the only way that I'm gonna be sold on him. That, and the ability to block consistently, but I believe the latter will come with development.

Slye may be a likeable kid, but...

Props for Grier showing improvement!

Shi Smith was a bright spot on several very bad South Carolina teams. I’ve watched him make tough, contested catches for 4 years. He’s an absolute baller.

I agree about the oline. Put Brown and Christensen on the right side and let’s roll.

I think that Shi Smith put any talk of him not making the team to bed last night. You said it right: he's a baller. And, no one can legitimately say otherwise.

Carolina has had redzone issues over the years that spilled into the regular season even with a running threat like Newton. To think this won't translate at all is naive. They can and will get better but our run blocking needs to be fixed first. And ffs stop signing these bums to protect your investment!

Kick the kicker

Slye is gone, so don't even worry about this. Would not shock me to see the ECU kid on the Ravens get picked up by us. He looked pretty good.

This is so disappointing to me. I was really pulling for him. He's got such a powerful leg, if he could just improve his consistency, he'd be a stud. But we've given him more than enough time to get whatever his issue is figured out. And at this point I thin the problem is more between his ears than anything with his mechanics. So yeah, he's gone, and I don't see how you could possibly think otherwise after Rhule's comments last night. That was almost like the Fredo speech.

We'll meet our new players after the 3rd pre season game.  Also that'll give the new kicker ( fingers crossed)  and other possible starters  over 2 weeks before the opening game Sept 12.

No, not the way I'd draw it up..  I'd have our 53 plus players in our own camp now... but they'll be coming soon and have a couple of weeks to get acclimated to our system.

GO PANTHERS

The biggest problem this team faces in 2021 is a horrible lack of depth. This showed against the Colts and again against the Ravens. This won’t be fixed this year, it will take another off-season. So just cross your fingers and hope we can stay relatively healthy.

This^

The team is obviously lacking in depth and is not quite ready to hang with the perennial playoff teams just yet.

The are still 1 or 2 good drafts away from getting the depth they want.  Another draft like the last one and we are pretty damn close.  Just my observation.

    • You should because before the preseason fiasco and the start of the season fiasco, all the reports, including Frank’s responses, were that Fitterer and Reich were in lock step. Remember the press conference where Fitterer talked about both he and Frank saying who they wanted before and after the draft process and that they both picked Young and it was glorious? People got hung up on Tepper saying the point guard analogy in April when Brown was interviewed by a Panthers reporter describing how a QB needs to be a point guard in huge detail. That was in February. I think Tepper was just parroting Brown to make himself look like he knew what he was doing. Mrs. Tepper hugging Bryce always overshadowed CJ saying how he called her Mama Tepp. We fuged up as a team, probably more so because Fitterer always said he had Young as his #1 the year before, probably because we looked at all the QBs that year as well. Reich’s love for CJ started when he got on the hot seats for frankly doing a horrific job. He's been in the league a long time and has a lot of media friends and that was a face saving CYA which we know well with many years of Hurney. Still amazing to think how much better the team was under Rhule/Hurney before Fitterer got any control when Rhule was on the hot seat.
    • I loved jStew but let’s not forget he was almost always held out from practice  due to some nagging injuries
