The Pats seemed very frustrated about the COVID "misunderstanding". Cam has made his own bed with that one.

Weirdly enough, Belichick was quoted just this morning as saying that Newton was "going in the right direction".

Apparently the right direction was out the door 😕

Cam actually had a decent preseason on field.  He is also cheap.

I think if you don't want him it is simply COVID headaches or Cam not willing to be happy being a backup that got him cut.  Otherwise, even if you start Mac Jones.....keeping Cam would make sense.

Yeah but Bill also just does weird things often. Cam was on a cheap deal even for a backup. And he's still good enough to be one of the better backups in the league.

With his salary he had to have some trade value, BB is a straight ice cold killer

Yeah, his prospects are very limited if he has any at all.  This just sucks for him.

And his case is why I don't want to hear poo from fans when a player wants a new contract...  there is no greater example of someone who put their body on the line for an organization, got destroyed in the process, and was thrown out like yesterday's trash for doing so.

I still honestly wish we would've just kept him and I still think he's better than Darnold.

Cam looked pretty good in preseason IMO.

I'd agree, he currently is better than Sam.   But that ship has sailed here.  And I frankly get other teams not wanting to deal with a high profile unvaccinated add.   NFL rules make Cam an undependable option.

Maybe he goes to the WFT to reunite with Ron. Would be a good back up there.

If I was betting that's where I would pick.  The problem for Cam as a backup is that he is still a high-profile player and anywhere he goes, the minute the starting QB struggles, people will be clamoring for him.

A lot of coaches don't want to deal with that, and would rather have a lesser backup than to deal with the media circus

I think him being unvaccinated played a very large role in this decision.

Yup.  The protocols are a bitch and the liability he was causing was not worth further investment.

Cam can thank Ron Rivera for this.  I am serious.

It is a fair point, he never should have put him out on the field during those meaningless games which made his shoulder shot.  My first reaction was that they would reunite in Washington, but given that he is unvaccinated and RR has his frustrations with guys not getting it, prob. won't happen
