NFL talent evaluators aren't gonna love that game from Howell. Particularly that last pick. But they're going to see some special throws too. They're gonna see numerous dropped passes. They're going to see that only one WR could create separation and actually catch a ball. They're going to see that UNC might as well have been playing a 3rd OT rather than they're TE because he was utterly useless as a recoecer. They're gonna see the 1st INT that was a perfectly thrown ball caught by a receiver who let a DB simply take it from him. They're gonna see that the second INT was a tipped pass at the LOS. The stat sheet looks a lot worse than the actual performance did if you were just looking to evaluate the QB as a prospect.

That's what a lot of people got caught up in with Wilson's game vs. Coastal too. They were watching a football game instead of evaluating the prospect. You can't judge the prospect by the outcome of the play, just by what he did with the opportunity given on that play or the opportunity he outright created out of nothing.

You just described Sam's time in NY.

I mean, there are you tube videos up featuring all his INTs from every season.

It's a tough sell for someone to watch them....and for you to then claim they were largely great defensive plays and bad breaks.

Sam Darnold made some really terrible decisions about what to do with the football in NY.   The type stuff a NFL QBs just shouldn't do.   Which is the knock on Sam.  Not his physical talent.

Yeah...One Sam gets excused, the other gets roasted.

Just because you are grumpy, does not mean you have to shove it down the throats of others.

Yep. Unfortunately, the narrative that it was all his poor protection, etc. just doesn't hold up. Maybe it was terrible coaching and development, but a lot of his bad plays were from a clean pocket and just terrible throws or terrible decisions or both.

Uhh...it wasn't his choice to be drafted by the Jets.

Not sure how this picture invalidates what he stated in the vid.

Once again I always giving props to Darnold in a sly slick way....

Keyshawn knows more about having success away from the Jets than most...He did win a superbowl with the Bucs

You know my view but at the same time I was listening to Keyshawn's view. Told you I'm not hoping Darnold fails, I'm not believing he will succeed...there's a difference.

    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
    • They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird.  pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.
