Is this the best Panthers pass rush in franchise history?

you can nitpick anything....his overall resume is what it is.  He has put 3 different teams in the top 5 defensively.   If that isn't a good DC, then I don't know what one is.   Ron was the same way.  Multiple teams and did it in multiple schemes.  The fact they suck as HCs is overpromotion....which you see often in sports.

and it's the present day NFL.  The entire league is too comically catered to aid the offense against a defense.  So defenses are going to get got.

Maybe they're starting slow, because right now WFT has the 31st ranked D.  In fact, the Bills, Chargers and Giants have their BEST offensive games so far this season against the WFT.  The Giants for instance had 346 yards of offense against Atlanta, but 391 against WFT.

There's a difference between comparing individual 2-man teams of rushers, and comparing unit pressure.

In the latter case, this is developing into an historic defense.  Not just Panther history, either.

The reason is that we've assembled a group of fast, versatile players, who can rush the passer or drop in coverage, without the OL having a clue who to block.

Pressure from all directions.

We'll have a better picture after the Dallas game. This group will seriously enter the conversation if - even if we end up losing - whack Dak like a pinata. Forget the stats; I don't recall our pass rush being this violent against opposing quarterbacks. That and it's not where our opponents can focus on just one or two guys either. Whatever we're doing is giving just about everyone a shot at the quarterback at some point, via skill and/or design. The question is whether we can sustain this or whether injuries/opponents getting smarter will set us back.

Del Rio was special, too bad we couldn't hold onto him

DelRio has that Norv Turner syndrome, great coordinator, doodoo HC… proven…

Hardy was a beast in ‘13, but 15 sacks is misleading… 8 through 14 games, 7 in last 2..granted those 2 were Ryan & Brees, much needed division wins but still.. loved Greg way back but let’s be real…

As individual talents, no.

As a unit, quite possibly. We'll see what happens when teams start adjusting to what we're doing as a scheme (we're stressing protections).

I wouldn't say this team is far off from it in the individual talents area... name a more individually talented team.. and still it's early

I say it's too early to say -- possibly but probably not. Our pass rush in 2013 carried the defense to a top 2 and frankly historic season. That secondary was a bunch of nobodies who didn't have to cover very long since our pass rush was getting home so fast. Secondary was a weakness masked by the elite pass rush that year.

This year's sack numbers and pass rush have definitely been benefited by our secondary actually being a strength so far this year. With Horn out they'll have a real test ahead of them, even with the CJ addition. We've gotten a fair amount of coverage sacks this year, which are awesome but partly due to the secondary rather than our elite pass rush. But even still our pass rush is the strength of the D. Just not sure yet if it's on 2013's level or surpasses it

I think this years secondary has been aiding the pass rush. Which isn’t something you could really say for prior teams.

2013’s 4 man front was probably the best we’ve seen in terms of consistent in your face pressure.

This years team has a better rush in totality if you factor in the talent plus the scheme.

    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
    • I think there's a ton of potential in that WR room. But they really are unproven right now. Hopefully they live up to the hype.
    • My unbelievable pile is touching the moon now-a-days. Bill is ultra control freak if there was ever one in the NFL, he's the guy. He stayed off SM and hate hate hated the media..........(wow bill what did you do in 2024??!?!?!).  So this guy, 100% control freak, just gave away all his SM to a 24 year old?? He doesn't understand SM at all... This is the same level as 8 time SB winner coming to coach UNC, after all this NIL BS that drove out his other control freak coaching friends.  This time line is insane.
