Zane Gonzalez better give up number 5 or we better cut his ass before week 7. Stephon wore number 5 at USC and South Pointe High.

Unfortunately, players can't change their numbers during the season. #25 is available as is #9.

Don't really care which number he chooses, I just want to see him out on the field.

I can imagine Eazy-E's reaction to that knowledge would be "WTF REALLY?".

As is mine as I did not know that players aren't allowed to do this.

Jesus Christ, what does our Media Officer do?!

They should have run in and rescued Stephon 5 minutes into that interview. What inane questions that he can't answer honestly. "Would you have signed here? / Do you want to sort out your contract before taking the field? / What do you think of your new teammates and how talented are they?"

Dude has LITERALLY just got here.

They ask these same stupid questions every time we acquire a player. Like they know this dude just walked into the building. Like they were there snapping pictures of him coming into the facilities. YOU KNOW HE JUST WALKED UP.

They are just looking for any little slip up or whatever that they can misconstrue to stir up some drama or whatever. Get their clickbaity headlines and what not. People say these players don't seem happy to be here but really they just don't want to talk to the media. Why would they?

I liked the questions "have you talked to Cam Newton?  What does he think or have to say about the Panthers?" 🤣

Him and stephon are really tight. I think that was a legitimate question.

all media asks these types of questions of every team it’s not just Charlotte and the panthers.

They read the Huddle and they read Twitter and just try to respond to base level chatter. Sports Media is responsive now. They are not interested leading informed discussions. Though the demands of needing to have hourly takes on everything is an impossible task so I see why it has come to this.

Just one media member not beholden to Twitter who could provide something thoughtful and researched would be nice.

Those reporters know Cam Newton is a sensitive subject.  I think that it was more of a fishing question than you give it credit for.  Whether he's talked to Cam in the last 24 hours or not, I think his answer was wise.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
