But we have time to wait for comeback routes?

Yes.  A comeback is typically thrown before the receiver makes a break.  The QB reads the DB and decides whether he's leveraged to make the play or not.  Basically the QB is just throwing to a spot before the receiver reaches the top of his route.

Double moves and stuff the QB can't get the read until after the move has been made.  The QB can't even make the read until the receiver reaches the top of the route and makes his break.  Unless you see something very specific pre-snap, those types of routes are typically your last read before you check it down.

A lot really comes down to the way the play and progression are drawn up.

And what makes you think Sam Darnold would've had time to throw a double route? Only TD that could  have taken place is a strip sack fumble return TD

Put some dang air under the ball and let it fly.  Double moves happen fast, as fast as the hitch route he ran that got picked.

Yea you just throw it down the sideline...like slant and gos don't require a lot of time nor does a short hitch and go. Throw it right after the first move is being made and they can catch and run.

Also max protect...there's plenty we haven't tried.

They keep doing these outs with RA so no an out and up isn't going to fly but other poo is just fine.

Nothing against max protect myself, but it's somewhat philosophically opposite a West Coast Offense.

Heck, one of the reasons WCOs tend to have mobile quarterbacks is that they don't always keep the backs or TEs in to block. The idea being that more receiving options being open is the better way to go.

Hiring Joe Brady was my favorite offseason move heading into the Rhule regime. I was ecstatic.

I’m ready for us to relieve him of his duties at this point. How many 1st down runs did we call yesterday? Cuz it seemed like literally every drive besides our last one. How many formations did we line up in that based on the personnel alone screamed, “we r about to run it”?!?

Our offense was predictable as hell and inefficient as I’ve ever seen it. This is no over reaction either. Yesterday’s offensive performance was pathetic and an absolute spit in the face to our defense.

I know our oline sucks, but please get somebody in here that has actual experience in calling even a somewhat successful offense.

Yea but you gotta go with what's actually the case. I mean like two TE sets and poo...when we had Shockey and Olsen that was good for Cam and could help Darnold too but obviously we don't have anyone near either of those guys but the matchup is what we're looking for.

Seems like the last two weeks others teams know when the comeback route is coming, I think 3 of the last 5 picks have been on those routes

For sure and it's a good call by Robbie to suggest it. I bet it works when we do it too.

    • So we have a pretty tough schedule for the remainder of the season.  I believe I saw where it's the toughest remaining schedule in the league.  To even think about the playoffs we IMO have to, at minimum, win three of the remaining six.  49ers - We will have to play an amazing game to win this one.  We are down to backups at LB (at least for now) and Kittle is probably going to have a big day.  CMC must not go off on us.  PFF had a pregame analysis and actually the two guys running the show were split on who wins.  They even said it was disrespectful to the Panthers to be 7pt underdog.  Evero is going to have to have a great gameplan.   I'm on the fence but this game is in SF and I think we lose. Rams - We're at home that is about the only advantage I see in this game.  LA is one of the best offenses in the league and I just don't think we have the firepower to beat them.  The only way we win is if we can control the clock and keep LA's offense off the field. Saints - We have to go into this game on a mission.  WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME.  Hopefully, Canales has a better gameplan and we win.  This is a very winnable game. TB x 2 - The only chance, IMO, of winning the NFCS is we have to win both games.  Many talking heads say TB is faltering some and can be had.  By week 15 and 17 we should be hitting on all cylinders.  If we win, it's going to have to be a pretty mistake free. Seahawks - they have a very tough defense, and I think we get shut down.  Our only hope is to pressure Darnold into mistakes like he did this past weekend with 4 INTs.  As with the Rams we are going to have to keep this a low scoring game. My hope is  49ers- Win Rams - Loss Saints - Win Bucs@Home - Win Seattle - Loss Bucs@TB - Loss 9-8 Record My Fear 49ers-Loss Rams-Loss Saints-Win Bucs@home - Loss Seahawks - Loss Bucs@TB - Loss 7-10 record
    • With Motons deal (stupid), Hunt, Lewis and Mayes and Icky upcoming our line is going to be the most expensive again in the nfl.   Its going to be an interesting snap shot if this type of team building works.
    • We have an easy out after this season with marginal dead cap. Could be smart given the situation and RB landscape.  This part isn’t at you—but in general: None of these guys are world beaters — sure they have been great for us at times but I just hope we don’t get this emotional investment paired with financials. I don’t think we need to teget all antsy about keeping Dowdle when he’ll be 28 next year. I don’t mind just continuously taking a stab in the late rounds every year on one.  We should not be investing in one guy in particular when they’re not really a game breaker. See: Sanders, Hubbard, etc.  I’d say heck yes, take a shot at a guy high up if you’re convinced you’ve landed a Gibbs or Taylor level, but otherwise, don’t invest, don’t get emotional about a 3-4 game stretch. Reset and see what type of committee you can construct with fresh legs.
