Deonte Brown carted off during practice

I just don’t understand how NFL teams (not just the Panthers) don’t address the most important piece of the offense, one that must be cohesive and normally  slower to develop, with scraps and FAs.  You have to draft, and keep on drafting, quality lineman, so the young ones can be eased in to the rotation and learn till their time to take over.

Doesn’t matter if you run the ball, or throw it all over the field, oline matters.  So frustrating…..not just for Sam, but whoever follows him, don’t do it to another kid QB just out of college.

Welcome to Panthers fandom. We've never given a single solitary fug about the OL. Any decent OL we ever fielded was primarily out of pure horseshit luck having some bargain basement free agents and/or mid-late round draft picks work out.

The same was true of the secondary too but we've quite obviously changed our approach there.

Wow. Just wow. This makes Rhule look even worse. Knowing that Deonte was heavy in college and could be an issue in the NFL.  Rhule still drafted Deonte and a long snapper over guy who was taken after that has been starting 5 games for the Chiefs.

The draftniks said we got 12 points of value. I am not sure how that helped,  but it was said that it was a great thing.

It's not at all an evaluation of the draft class overall, that takes years. It's just about brining in guys to contribute this year which we all knew we needed. There was so much hype after the draft about how great it was and reality has just not been kind to date.

Draftniks in the media are mostly PFF level garbage entertainment. The only one I look for every year is Verge here. And it's not like the professionals with jobs don't have issues with their values either, Hurney kept his job for 14 years being very bad overall.

I actually think this is an issue beyond the Panthers, and I think a big part of it is the shift in the way college offenses work meaning there are fewer NFL-level OL prospers in the draft. Maybe I'm wrong there, but it seems like a bigger problem and is widespread on many teams.

And suddenly this draft class looks meh as hell. Yikes, what a slide to reality.

Not quite bruh...wth...

Horn ... you just just tell he'll be an impact player.

Marshall... will be a big part of our offense in the future...

Tremble... see above

Christensen... see above. Motons first games were comparable.

I'll stop there .... and by the end of year 3 ..this could very well end up being a top 1-3 draft in Panther history. That's 4 players with starter potential. Most teams are lucky to get two and a possible. And I didnt even mention Brown and Chubba.

I don't think it's necessarily how college offenses work but how college offenses have impacted NFL offenses. More and more spread type formations but more and more pressure on your OL. There are just fewer blockers available even if all they're doing is chipping before releasing into their route.

NFL coaches have been blaming the college game for their shoddy prospect evaluation and player development since the beginning of the league. College coaches aren't paid to develop NFL talent. They're paid to build winning college football programs which just so happens to usually also produce NFL prospects.

    • Ehh NYR had more scoring opportunities and Florida is healthy with an elite net minder. Only fault I have on Rod is his goalie decision. At some point, the players deserve some balme.
    • I went to McDonald's at lunch got a combo for $12. It was ok. The next day I ordered lunch from Cracker Barrel got the broccoli cheddar chicken, steak fries, and 2 biscuits paid $12 with tip. Guess which was better.
