Curious as to how many here believe he will and how many here think he won't.

I think he might but it's also too early to tell.

If he plays like sh-t against the Giants next Sunday, though.....

(I also am attempting to create my first poll here so hopefully I did it right but if not, f*ck it)

well the better question (assuming what appears to be more clear - he isn’t the answer) is who exactly are you attracting with arguable one of the worst lines in the league, a whiny bitch Robbie who drops everything and a RB the staff has no clue how to use and is not on the field…

and not to mention a franchise averaging 6 wins since 2017…

oh an 1 pick in the first three rounds (as of now) to reasonable fix any of it

Stafford already said f no

you’re left with attempting to get a QB willing to come here or begrudgingly traded here or draft something, which you’d probably have to trade up from (and possibly reach) mid pick since this is the shittiest qb class to come out in a while..

everyone who constantly shits on Darnold should really be secretly hoping he turns around to be at least worth another year because there isn’t going to be exactly a plethora of options

course you could always say fug it and trade your future for a alleged rapist, he probably can’t be too picky

I think he stays on the team but hopefully we bring someone else in like Malik or another vet qb. We already picked up his 5th year at 18 million which lol we are a dumb org.

that wasn’t the mistake, if we are looking at it from that angle, you simply don’t trade for him

giving up a second rounder for someone you don’t believe will work until you see it with your own eyes for at least two years is equally as if not more stupid imo

I saw the vid you provided on Malik.

He looks promising and would have zero issue if they drafted him.  🙂

But hearing the terms "He's a magician" and "he's houdini" makes it sound like the perfect choice for a coaching staff that will NEVER fix the O-Line.

I hope they do, though, as I don't want ANY young QB getting pummeled every sunday.

Depends how bad it gets.

If we end up winning only 5-6 games and he has a worse season than he did in 2019 with the Jets?

Well, good luck to Tepper selling that.  It will mark the first time in franchise history with 4 consecutive losing season.  With a promise of NY Sam coming back?

think for Sam to return, things will have to turn around from the current outlook.  If we continue poorly….the football gods will require sacrifices. That’s the NFL.   And Joe Brady won’t be enough.

Naw you don’t pick it up. If Darnold balled out this year we would be looking at extending him this coming off-season either way. Yeah you might have to deal with others bidding on him but he more than likely would’ve stayed here. He had a higher chance of continuing to be a bust then actually succeeding but this staff has been delusional about qbs since day 1 so whatever.

Rhule is tied to him now, maybe they could draft Sam Howell next year but unless Fitt gets really creative that means our next pick would be a 3rd round O-line guy and then a bunch of developmental 5-7 picks. I don't think Rhule is getting a third chance on a starting QB, I think the only realistic FA option would be Trubisky. Rhule will probably use Brady as a scapegoat, get a new OC and either things click or Tepper cleans house

I talked to an old man I used to watch football with when I lived in NC. Haven’t talked to him much since the season started but his opinion of Darnold was “his ceiling is higher than Teddys but his floor is much lower”.

Sam could be Brett Favre or Jimmy Clausen. It’s still too early.

    • Keep away from North Winston,  you should be fine. West Winston towards Clemmins is cool. If you're ever at the Peterscreek Walmart, the Pepsi guy is 😎.
    • Game-winning drives have been credited to QBs since the beginning of time
    • A lot of people have been slobbing all over this last draft but I hate the way that Fitterer/Morgan have built this offense since drafting Bryce. Anyone with eyes knew our IOL was crap but we didn't invest there and instead took project receivers and an injured RB. If you want a lesson in how build for your QB wrong, IMO, this was it. Draft him, protect him, THEN get him weapons. Its pretty much a rule, draft interior linemen, pay tackles. We're paying everyone. We had the opportunity to draft a center instead of Brooks, or perhaps instead of trading up for XL, trade back and take 2 guards/center. We could have paid Lewis and still drafted 2, but Hunt at 100m was just an overpay. And it's not like the guys many of us were begging us to draft were long shots. They're solid starters from day 1. Injuries happen. That's why all your starters can't be high value players. You need rookie contracts mixed in to be able to absorb those inevitable losses on the line. An offensive line playing an entire season together is an abnormality.  Factor into that also paying Moton 44m this offseason with a huge signing bonus when we didnt need to do right now to do him a "solid".  Now we have to sign Icky and possibly Bryce and it's a mess with more money tied up in the offense, inevitable cuts and dead cap coming. That's not even factoring in shifting Corbett to C last year after major injury to start at a position he's never played for an NFL season. It's all stuff that was foreseeable and pretty easily avoided.  The $$ and picks we've spent trying to surround Bryce outside of Tmac (Mitchell and Horn are TBD) have been used inefficiently IMO. Smarter drafting and FA with the line could have let us get more reliable weapons than XL and Sanders in FA. It might not be popular opinion, but I'll take a Bersin with hands that can get 6-8 85% of the time vs a big play XL with greasy fingers.  The part about hitting guys in stride was more about placement, which Bryce has struggled with. Obviously not every route is run to be hit in stride, but they do need to have the ball placed well to give the receivers a chance to do something after the catch. I just used Hill as an example because he's the biggest YAC threat I could think of over the past 5 years.   Receivers can feast on dink and dunk if it's schemed right. But to make it work, that vertical threat has to be there, if not the deep pass then the high speed routes that can spring someone for the huge YAC to keep the safeties from cheating into that 20 yard box all game.  I hope DC and Bryce can keep up what they did in the last game and it isnt just an Atlanta thing. But no matter what, I really want to see some better long term strategy coming from the FO.
