Nothing has changed recently about his legal situation since it was reported that Watson would waive his no trade clause for us

Yes, people have ASSUMED that he would waive it for us.  But we've always known the entire time that the only team Watson had officially waived it for was Miami.  Not Denver, not San Fransisco, not Philly, only Miami.

Ian did not report, "Panthers stopped their pursuit because Watson doesn't want to go there."  He said the Panthers would not continue pursuing Watson AT THIS TIME.  And then reiterated something that we already knew - Miami was the only destination he's approved so far.  And then Joe Person reported that the no-trade clause did not affect us, and that we could still try to pursue him in the offseason when his legal situation is clearer.  It is likely the Panthers just were not satisfied with what they heard at the meetings.

I don't think it needs to be explained any clearer.  If you want to keep laughing at our misery though, go ahead.

And we are a QB away, and likely staring down the barrel of 1 or 2 wins out of the remaining schedule with Darnold at the helm.

This team is not just a QB away. The Oline is a huge weakness and the defense isn't as good as people think as has been proven the last few weeks. Special teams is still...special, just not in a good way. And to top all that off, the coaching staff appears in over their heads.

That said, it's year two of the rebuild. Maybe they'll figure things out next season.

So here is our roadmap from here on out.

1. Go the rest of the season with Darnold, maybe win 1 more game

2. Draft OT Neal next draft. Do NOT draft a QB. This staff will ruin him to save their sorry asses. Let Rhule continue to be delusional about winning with his dumpster dive QBs. Let him start the season with a low tier FA QB like Jacoby Brissett or Mariota. DONT TRADE DRAFT PICKS FOR A poo QB LIKE U DID WITH SAM!!!!

3. Fire Rhule and his staff at the end of 2022 after another <= 5 win season.

4. Start over with a new coaching staff in 2023. Hopefully we will have a new owner then as well. Draft a QB and plug him into a decent core.

At least all the people that didn't want Watson can enjoy watching us win two more games this season

They probably thinking "if only we can get Jonathan Ogden and Orlando Pace to block for Sam on the line he wouldn't be so jittery and keep throwing it to the other team."

I hope he doesn't get traded before the deadline and we have a chance in the offseason. I'm not going to do another year of Samuel darnold

This is what i have settled on since sunday. Which is the only reason im pushing for PJ. Looking abolishing against the giants and only putting up 3 points is not gonna get out my head anytime soon. I dont need to see anything else from Darnold.

the truth hurts.

I edited for you.  You should go look again.

Like I said, I've been here and I'll always be here through good and bad.

And yeah, you hit a nerve because I'm tired of idiots that don't know any better ruining it for the fans who actually expect better.

Miami has just as bad of an oline or worse. Miami has one win. One. Anyone looking at this team knows we have a great defense and weapons. We are an extremely talented team with more talent then Miami and he chose Miami lol.

I’m sure location, location and location (and all that comes with that) factored just as heavily as the roster talent. These guys are human beings 1st after all.

    • He is a great guy but a horrible reporter. He makes my skin crawl when I hear his name. I heard that babies cry and dogs attack him when he enters a room. Other than that he is a good dude. Now go burn in hades u sum bit.
    • The job just really passed him by. He came up when basically you just needed to get three or four quotes, toss a couple of team provided stats in there, and stretch it out to column length. you got your copy in by 330, out the door by 4, then chill/shmooze the rest of the day. If you were really good you got a book deal. Every now and then you got to write an editorial. The goal of the profession was like Peter King where ostensibly you’re a beat writer for whomever but you get paid to just shoot the poo. now it’s a 24 hour job, you’ve gotta be social media savvy, the pace has increased substantially, you’re expected to produce more than ever, you gotta be able to look through bullshit etc. there’s still risk of industry capture where you just become a mouth piece. Sheena Quick is obviously shameless. I don’t think Newton ever aspired to be more than an inoffensive beat writer, but even that relatively simple role was just more than he was cut out for. its even worse when you’re covering a team that expects the Fourth Estate to act as a PR extension, or considers them on par with buying Twitter bots to promote Bryce. there were over thirty papers that covered the panthers first training camp. In that environment there’s room for boring guys like newton, and they may even be incentivized to push the boundary a little. But today that just isn’t the case and most of the guys are hanging on until retirement (person, gantt) or they’re good and gonna be matched up like Jordan. im not defending the current state of sports journalism, just saying that what counts as a meat and potatoes beat writer passed newton by. He’s retiring well past his sell by date, but that’s pretty common for his generation in general.
