Sam has already been better than Clausen on the field.

Jimmy got us a the #1 pick in the draft, a franchise QB, and a new coaching staff.

After just three NFL starts and being pulled in week 5, Clausen was benched after completing 47 percent of his passes with one touchdown and three interceptions. Clausen also fumbled seven times, losing two, and had a 52.2 passer rating. Clausen finished the 2010 season with 157 completions out of 299 attempts (52.5%), 1,558 yards with 3 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He was sacked 33 times and fumbled 9 times, losing two.[43]

What is Sam going to get us??

Sam is better than Clausen. Not enough better to matter but he is better than Clausen.

Sam is more of the Weinke/Peete class of Panthers QB.

Man, you know Jimmy Clausen was just the worst when everyone can agree Darnold is definitely better lol

I'd probably have to check out the season if we had a Clausen-level QB.  I can't believe we even won a game with him.

Clausen and Sam are two different kinds of horrible IMO.  Jimmy brought a consistency you could count on.  The O would be no threat.  Ever.

Sam can an have odd game here or there and has physical ability.  You can’t count on him even to properly suck.

I should know, considering he blew the Jets chances at getting Trevor Lawrence.

Exactly.  Clausen last year easily goes 0-16 for the Jets.  And would have done it if even the front office wasn’t trying to set them up to fail.

Sam is always going to let you down.  You want him to get the pick you want? Well, he is going to win a couple random games just because.

In Sams defense he has scored 12 TDs in 6 games where Jimmy scored 2 in 10 games.

Sam has also won 3 games out of 6 where Jimmy won 1 out of 10. The other victory that year was Matt Moore’s against SF.

Not saying he is good, just saying not Clausen bad.

Clausen also didn't turn the ball over nearly as much. They both fail to score points, though, which is why we can't win when they're out there. Clausen had the benefit of a respectable coach, albeit one who'd mailed it in even more than his players at that point. Darnold has the PJ Walker of coaches.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
